Time and Attention

I just started reading The Family Board Meeting by Jim Sheils.  You can grab a copy of the book using the link below this email.  Don't lose your family while building your business.  On the other hand, the framework in this book will leave you free to really focus on business growth when you're focused on growth.

We are going to study this book in BBCamp mastermind groups this month and we will have a free Campfire call on Monday November 23 from 12pm - 1:30 pm with other business owners who are dads or grandpas to discuss the book.  I hope you join us.  

Book club is easy, get a hard copy or audible copy of the book, read it, reflect on it and join us for a conversation and hear how other men are leading their family while also growing their business.  It's not easy to do both.

As I read the book, I realized that like many other things, the basic premise of the book is that we need to give focused Time and Attention to each of our children.  We need to set aside time to focus on nothing but them and our relationship.  

Also - like many other things in BBCamp .... it is something we schedule. The Time and Attention with our children is something that becomes a habit.  There is some ritual around it.

A coach of mine, Steve Chandler, said that if we want anything to grow we just need to give it Time and Attention, but giving something Time and Attention takes commitment and it might mean saying No to something else.  

In business - the part we give Time and Attention to will grow. 

If you give Time and Attention to your email inbox - it will grow.  (Sort of reversing things there, but I think that is true - emails breed emails).

If you give Time and Attention to your leaders, they will Grow.  

If you give Time and Attention to your top 5 customers, they will Grow and refer others.

But what will you say No to? What will you NOT give Time and attention to?  That is the hard part.  We want to do everything.

As I read this book I realized that our BBCamp Mastermind meetings are an example of giving Time and Attention to growth.  It is also hiring me to give you and your growth my Time and Attention.  1 on 1 coaching is the same.  We go on a journey together for growth.  

There are certainly masterminds out there other than mine, but if you want to grow - getting around other like minded business owners is a way to make it happen.  Who else do you talk to who wants to be a great dad, be a great husband - the BEST they can be.... AND live a fun life of adventure for you and of course - Grow their business, grow their finances, grow their impact on the community.

We are doing that together each week.  Join mine or join someone else's, or spend time in a cabin with a book and a journal - but give yourself and your growth Time and Attention.  You deserve it and your family and your business deserve it!
