Is it time to add a new suit?
Through the end of October, my suit sales are up 40%… well, 39.50% to be exact.
As I look at my sales of suits from last year in November and December, I’m confident I will finish the year right around that same increase.
As I am a few weeks away from my trunk show (it begins December 3rd!) and our year end offerings, here’s what I know…
First, it is the perfect time to buy a suit from yours truly.? But more importantly, second, there is a decent chance you’ve thought about adding one.? I’m simply using my numbers to affirm that likelihood.
Maybe you went to a conference this year that started back up, or you had a client event and are considering doing more after years of not doing as many. Maybe you were on stage or gave a presentation and are thinking that trend might continue. Maybe you attended a wedding or funeral that felt a little more formal than some others you attended since Covid. In all of these instances, you looked in the mirror, you compared yourself to how others look, and you thought, maybe I should add a suit?
Well, of course, I believe you should. And my numbers say that others agree with me.
But if you are on the fence, here is what I’ll bet is going through your head…
These are legitimate arguments and they make sense. And you know what, you’re right, you can get by. And you’re also right, you won’t wear a new suit as often as you wear some of your other garments.
But for me and my clients, none of this gets in the way of why it makes sense to add a new suit.

Why?
Those looking to "just get by" love this low standard of dress that surrounds us. That's because they see dressing up as an inconvenience on their path to do the least possible to get a paycheck, hopefully build their resume, and never risk disrupting anything with courageous contribution, or an appearance that says they take what they do too serious.
My clients, and the people behind the 40% increase, are not "just getting by." You can't when you are cognizant of where you are trying to take yourself and all those you hope to take with you, whether its your company, a firm, an organization, a clientele, a group of peers, or a family.
If you can afford a new suit, and you want to separate yourself from the version of you that sees being overdressed as an inconvenience, for heaven sake, buy a new suit.
After you get over the pain of the money leaving your checking account, in the end, you will know it was the right choice.?
Why?
Because there is no better affirmation for who you are and what you represent then your appearance professionally and personally.? And if a suit is what you wear to the most important moments in your life, "just getting by" is the definition of? pathetic. ? And that’s not hyperbole.? Look it up.?

3 个月So insightful. I hope professionals begin to understand how the simple elevation of dressing appropriately will level you up in the minds of others and in your own mind. It is so depressing to see people essentially wearing pajamas into their office, spending money on low quality, toxic fabrics. Clothing, like food and real estate is one of the most important parts of our life.
