Tim Grover in his book: W1NNING

Tim Grover tells a story in his book 'W1NNING', about a tech firm he was consulting with who decided to sack their top performer to improve 'morale'. They said she was difficult, didn't get along with others, and insisted that everyone needed to do better often making people feel uncomfortable. The company decided it would be better for "morale" by letting her go, along with her huge book of business and years of experience.

Within a month of her departure, morale and productivity actually got worse, because those who had the issues with her suddenly had no one to blame for their poor performance, and no one to hold them accountable. And eventually, her former bosses realised that the person who was the "problem" was actually the one holding it all together. The "thorn" in everyone's side was the most important part of the rose.

You're creating so much distance between you and everyone else that they finally stop trying to keep up, and they tell themselves and everyone else that you're just plan difficult. You're obsessed. You're crazy. You're headed for disaster.

You are not the problem, Tim says... you're the solution, and you're already solving problems that they can't even see. When you're so intensely dedicated, working toward the larger vision, people don't see what you see - they don't have the foresight that you do.
