Till We Meet Again

Till We Meet Again

Whenever it’s time for me to bid farewell at any phase of my life, I say, ‘there’s no goodbye, until we meet again,’ because that’s what I believe in.

Goodbyes are always a mixed bag of feelings and emotions, with varied memories built up along the way. With each stage of life, we move on to the next step, making or breaking memories.

I am sure all would admit that one of the most happening parts of our life is the one we spent in college. As we move from school and step into college to pursue higher education, we also make a transition from our childhood to an adult stage.

No denial to the lines, ‘those were the best days of my life’, from the song “Summer of 69” by Bryan Adams.

Life in college not only exposes us to new experiences that we are not familiar with, but is also a time to get serious about careers and upgrade our knowledge through the medium of education.

Education covers a large part of our life and college days turn out to be the most exciting journey. No denial to the fact that bidding farewell to life in college is again overwhelming, with a bag full of memories, new dreams and the hope to start a new journey.

When I completed my Graduation in University, everything suddenly seemed to stop with a bang. All that kept us so occupied in college changed overnight. The classes, studies, examination, bonding, activities we were involved in on a regular basis – all of these and more are amazing moments of a lifetime.

The day we stepped out of campus, we all knew deep in our heart that we would not be seeing each other every day anymore. The hours spent in the canteen, the music sessions, pulling in money and buying our favourite dish to savour on, the long debates, the fun, the laughing sessions, the leg pulling, the interaction with our peers, seniors and teachers – an experience each student can connect to takes on a new turn when college life is over, moving towards a new direction. Students become professionals or entrepreneurs and move on in life, leaving behind a trail of memories and experiences.

Bidding farewell to our Management & Data Science students at Praxis Business School comes with a mixed bag of emotions and sentiments. My interaction with students developed over time, a bond that grew with affection and respect. As they shared their good and bad experiences with me, I became a part of their journey and memories.

Along with the knowledge gained at Praxis, students also developed their overall potentials and personalities, their experiences building them as a whole. The students’ involvement in various college activities helped defined their characteristics and helped them mature and grow with time. The guidance and mentoring by the faculty and others at college gave them many learning lessons which is much needed in the corporate life. The campus and hostel became a second house for them, building relationships and making friends to last a lifetime.

To end this note of farewell, the least I could say that it was indeed one of the best experiences of my professional life. From meeting unknown faces to becoming a part of their journey, it definitely was worthwhile. I wish them the very best in life now and forever.

Students, no matter where you go, always keep your chin up and shine bright. Take home the happy memories and never forget whatever you learnt from any unhappy experiences. Be happy, Be bright, Be bold. Celebrate Your Worth.

Upalparna Dey, moments of parting are indeed overwhelming, but it's a small world and therefore "till we meet again" is absolutely the right thought to hug and walk away, with eyes moist and a smile on your lips... For those who understand Hindi, pease note my favourite words at farewells that my sons also carried forward to their workplaces as a legacy: Choti si ye duniya, pehchaane raaste hain, Tum kabhi to miloge, kahin to miloge, To puchenge haal...

Nothing satisfies the soul more than elevating another human being. That moment when they finally put all the pieces together. When all things snap into place. ??Even better if they surpass you. For then they can return the gift.
