TikTok’s Script Generator is Not Oscar-Worthy…Yet.

TikTok recently released an AI-powered Script Generator in its Creative Center, which is designed to help users quickly generate TikTok scripts for their products. AppAgent's Creative Director, Chris, decided to test the tool's potential for providing inspiration and assisting with high-volume marketability tests.

Here are his thoughts:

You start by providing details about your product, industry, product name, and a detailed description of its key features. The more information you give, the better the generated scripts will be.

The tool offers optional advanced settings to fine-tune the scripts according to your preferences. For example, under ‘Video Format’, you can choose an auto-mode that suggests possible options or hand-select formats like gameplay commentation or a green screen background.

The tool also allows you to add up to five keywords that you want to appear in the scripts. I recommend doing this, as it helps ensure that your message hits the mark with the intended audience.

Regarding script duration, you have the flexibility to choose between a short 15-30 second script or a longer 30-60 second one.

The Results

The results of my test were surprisingly good! The tool provided three different scripts, each with slightly different angles. What I liked most was how the scripts were presented, with clear distinctions between the voice-over and visual elements. This would make it super easy for me to hand them over to a designer or editor for production.

While the creativity may not win any awards, the scripts contain all the right hooks and elements that make up a high-performing ad. This is a great tool for quickly generating solid creatives, especially for those who are unsure how to start.

The language could use a double-check, as some parts feel a bit AI-generated. Nevertheless, it exceeds expectations. Overall, it's a good way to quickly ideate some basic scripts that may need a bit of polishing.

Important: There is a disclaimer that you, as the user, take responsibility for using these scripts since they are AI-generated and may not be entirely accurate. It's essential to note that the results from my tests have been quite diverse, and they would likely work best as simply a baseline for inspiration.

Remember, the more effort you put into the product description and carefully consider your keywords, the better the results will be.

Artist Kelly McKernan shared her thoughts about the issue with BBC,

"Suddenly all of these paintings that I had a personal relationship, and journey with, had a new meaning, it changed my relationship with those artworks. I felt violated. If someone can type my name [into an AI tool] to make a book cover and not hire me, that affects my career and so many other people."
