Between the Guidelines: TikTok’s New Creativity Program
TikTok has responded to the demand amongst content creators for new revenue opportunities with their announcement of the Creativity Program Beta. Through careful analysis of creator feedback on the current TikTok Creator Fund, TikTok developed the Creativity Program to host new and improved performance metrics, estimated revenue, and content eligibility dashboards.
TikTok shared that the Creativity Program Beta will only be available to U.S. creators over the age of 18 through an invite-only basis. What sets apart the Creativity Program from the current TikTok Creator Fund program is its new guidelines pertaining to video length. TikTok distinguished that original high-quality content monetized via the Creativity Program must fulfill a minimum length of one minute in addition to abiding by Community Guideline regulations.
Creators may need to shift their content-production structure to meet the new time guideline in order to earn revenue on their views. Once available, creators can apply for the Creativity Program or transfer from the TikTok Creator Fund under the conditions that they meet the minimum follower and view counts as well as they have an account following Community Guidelines.
YouTube Music Officially Introduces Podcasting to Platform
With long-form content back on the rise, the battle for the top podcasting platform is in full swing. YouTube announced that podcasts will now be available on YouTube Music for viewing and free ad-supported background listening.
YouTube’s Head of Podcasting Kai Chuk highlighted the platform’s dedication to providing creators with ample tools for producing shows. Chuk elaborated on their creator-first initiative for podcasting in a recent interview with Hot Pod Summit.
“So as long as [creators] find it successful and helpful, that’s success for us.” Although Spotify is at the top of the podcasting game with 200 million paid subscribers, YouTube Music’s fate in the industry of podcasting seems hopeful in that their creators have a greater incentive to create with special tools.

Diversify Content with YouTube’s Multi-Language Audio Tracking
YouTube announced multi-language audio and shared a case study on Mr. Beast’s use of the new video element this past week. Mr. Beast was one of the few creators in a small pool hand-selected by YouTube to test the beta version in January 2023.
YouTube reported that dubbed videos made up approximately 15% of watch-time in the channels’ non-primary language. Rene Ritche, YouTube Liason, conducted an interview of Mr. Beast to gain insight on his implementation of multi-language audio tracking on eleven of his top-performing videos.
Mr. Beast shared that multi-language audio is extremely useful for creators like himself who have several subchannels for content translated to a different language in that their spread of content can be condensed to one main channel.?

This in turn makes it easier for global viewers to locate content and simply select their language dubbing preference from the video settings menu. In regard to the transition to multi-language audio tracking, Mr. Beast advises that creators dub their old content as well as their new content so that fans may binge-watch your content. Tumblr’s 125% Revenue Increase and “Important Internet Checkmark”
Tumblr has solidified its comeback to the social media scene through its new parody verification program. In light of recent subscription-based programs announced by Meta and Twitter , Tumblr launched their “bargain” verification subscription which entails not one but two “Important Blue Internet Checkmarks” for the low low price of only $7.99.
Double verification from Tumblr was made publicly available back in November 2022, but recent data collected by Sensor Tower reports a 125% increase in revenue over the last three months.?
The app intelligence firm also reported $236,000 net revenue in Tumblr consumer spending as well as a 19% in-app purchase revenue compared to the three months preceding the double checkmark release. Tumblr initiated “Important Internet Checkmark” gifting this February and introduced badge customization which allows checkmarks to be “important in every color of the rainbow.”
