TikTok's Instagram competitor 'Notes' launches in select markets

1/5 Twitch launches it’s TikTok-style discovery feed

After nearly a year of testing, Twitch will finally roll its new discovery feed out to its users later this month. The new feature will allow users to scroll through separate feeds dedicated to livestreams and clips. This will launch as a tab within the mobile app, with the view to integrating it into the app’s homepage by the end of next month. (Via. The Verge)

2/5 Will Airchat succeed at becoming the next big thing?

Airchat is a text and voice network which allows users to speak their posts into existence. The system then translates their speech into text and posts it to a Twitter-style feed. But despite its success at incorporating elements from other successful platforms into a neat, stylish package, Airchat’s longevity is questionable. Not only do people not want to have to use their voice to create fresh content, but other platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok already offer auto-caption features on a bigger canvas. (Via. 3/5 TikTok's Instagram competitor 'Notes' launches in select markets

TikTok is in the early stages of rolling out its latest app, TikTok Notes, in a bid to compete with Instagram. The app will be a dedicated space for photo and text content and serve those who wish to share and engage through images. While the company has been light on the details, we know that users can log in using their existing TikTok accounts and that there may be a possibility to share Carousel-style posts. (Via. 4/5 UK government set to reveal social media ban for under 16s

The UK government is reportedly set to tighten restrictions on under-16s accessing social media platforms. The restrictions will seek input from parents regarding the appropriate age at which children should be allowed access to the likes of Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, in order to better safeguard them. In addition, the government is also considering banning under-16s from purchasing smartphones, although parents would still be able to buy them for their children if this came into effect. (Via. 5/5 Dove pledges its allegiance to real women over AI models

To mark its 20th anniversary, Dove is looking to differentiate itself from its competitors by committing to not using AI models in lieu of real women in its advertising going forward. Its new campaign ‘The Code’ depicts women submitting prompts to AI-image generators only to be met with unrealistic results. The video then shows Dove’s vision for what the technology could make, portraying a diverse array of women/beauty standards. The brand has established a set of Real Beauty Prompt Guidelines that aim to help users of AI image generators create more representative images. Ambassadors such as Drew Barrymore and Reba McEntire have also been enlisted to help raise awareness. (Via. Marketing Dive)
