TikTok Predictions for 2025: What to Expect and How to Stay Ahead

TikTok continues to be a driving force in social media, and 2025 is shaping up to be a year of massive changes and opportunities. From potential ownership shifts to new features and content trends, creators and businesses alike need to stay informed to capitalize on what's coming next. Here are my predictions for TikTok in 2025 and what they mean for you.
With ongoing talks about TikTok's ownership structure, I believe we’ll see a 50/50 ownership split between ByteDance and a U.S.-based company. While many speculate that Meta will be the American partner, I don’t see that happening.
Instead, I think it’s more likely we’ll see a partnership with someone like Elon Musk and X (formerly Twitter) or another major tech player. Whatever the outcome, this ownership change will solidify TikTok’s position in the U.S. market and likely bring regulatory peace.
2. A New User Boom?
Remember the explosive growth TikTok experienced in 2020? I predict a similar boom in 2025. Right now, around 170 million Americans are on the platform, but that’s only half the population.
Once the government declares TikTok "safe," millions of new users will join the platform. This means huge opportunities for creators and businesses to capture attention and grow. If you’ve been inconsistent on TikTok, now is the time to get back to posting regularly.
3. DM Automation Will Be Available for All Accounts
Currently, TikTok is testing DM automation for business accounts, but I predict this feature will roll out to everyone in 2025. This will be a game-changer for creators and business owners.
Imagine posting content and directing viewers to your DMs with a keyword, where an automated sequence guides them to your products, services, or lead magnets. This will streamline engagement and sales, making TikTok even more valuable for businesses.
4. Horizontal Content Will Make a Comeback
TikTok is pushing for longer-form, horizontal content that fills the screen, much like YouTube. I believe we’ll see a bigger emphasis on this in 2025.
Start filming some of your content horizontally and uploading it to TikTok. When I tested this format, my content received a noticeable boost in visibility. This shift will likely encourage creators to produce more in-depth content that keeps viewers engaged for longer.
5. Carousels Will Continue to Grow Accounts
Carousels are becoming a powerful tool for engagement on TikTok. They keep users scrolling and interacting with your content for longer periods, which TikTok loves.

In 2025, I predict we’ll see even more creators adopting this format. If you’re not creating carousels yet, now is the time to start. Use Canva to design slides that tell a story, teach a concept, or share valuable information.
6. Live Streaming Will Be a Major Focus
TikTok is doubling down on live streaming, and I think it will become even more essential in 2025. Live streams are a great way to connect with your audience, sell products, and build engagement.
If you’re not live streaming regularly, make it a priority. TikTok rewards creators who use this feature, and it can be a game-changer for your growth and sales.
7. TikTok Shop Will Explode for Business Owners
TikTok Shop is already helping businesses make millions, and I predict it will become even bigger in 2025. As more product-based businesses join the platform, creators will have more opportunities to earn through affiliate marketing and sponsored content.
If you’re a creator, start learning how TikTok Shop works and which products are trending. The sooner you get involved, the more money you can make.
8. TikTok Live Stream Studios Will Expand
TikTok is building live stream studios where creators can go live with their products. I predict we’ll see more of these studios popping up across the U.S. and around the world.
These studios will house products on-site, and TikTok will likely hire people to livestream full-time. This will create a whole new level of content creation and sales opportunities.
9. TikTok Will Launch Creator Conferences
In 2025, I believe TikTok will start hosting its creator conferences. These events will be a place for creators, businesses, and agencies to connect, learn, and grow.
These conferences will likely cover everything from content creation and monetization to platform strategies, offering valuable insights for anyone looking to thrive on TikTok.
