Tik Tok for Real Estate Agents
Tik Tok for real estate agents
Tik Tok has emerged as one of the key players in social media marketing for real estate agents since its rise throughout late 2017. The platform has 750 million active monthly users worldwide in 2022.?
Why is Tik Tok so good for real estate agents?
Tik Tok’s listing algorithm is based on user interests rather than follower/ following metrics. Most platforms like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn only show the user, content produced by who they follow. Basically Tik Toks FYP (the main feed within Tik Tok) algorithm gives you an endless feed of content that follow your interests. Instead of only seeing videos from people you follow, the main FYP on Tik Tok is made up of videos that Tik Tok thinks you’ll enjoy.
The advantage of Tik Tok’s interest based algorithm as a creator, is that it is far easier to have your video go viral. Unlike Instagram or Facebook where you’re limited to the number of followers you have, and for most of us, it’s not many!

Okay, well I want to start creating on Tik Tok, what do I need to do?
Easy to start
You’ll be happy to know that Tik Tok is super easy to start. You’ll need to provide your phone number or email address and a few other details. Tik Tok will set you up with an account. From here you’ll need to set up the rest of your account.
Profile pic or video
You’ll need to upload a profile picture or profile video. A profile video can be a way more entertaining approach. Try and get your face really clearly defined in the picture. You want to look friendly, approachable and trustworthy.?
Idea: have one of your recent clients in your profile video. Remember the profile video is only 5 or so seconds long.
Bio
Don’t make this boring like “I’m a real estate agent in Brisbane, let’s work together”. Have some personal touches to it. Remember, you’re dealing with ordinary people, they want to know that you’re trustworthy.?
“Exceptional agent selling houses since 2005. Lover of all things Real Estate, Cars and food” Sounds better and more relatable than “Real Estate agent since 2005”.

Some tips
Remember Tik Tok doesn’t look at follower count or previous videos. Produce as much as you can everyday.?
All you need to do is film a video from your phone
You can by all means have a media team produce, edit and post professional clips of you on Tik Tok, but most agents don’t have the budget for that, YET. Start off with just your phone, yourself and colleagues.?
Your videos don’t need to be edited. You should however add on trending audio as this tends to increase your chance of people seeing your content.
Post consistently
As we mentioned before, posting consistently on Tik Tok gives you the best chance of going viral. Remember, Tik Tok is based on interest not followers so theoretically speaking, the more you post, the higher chance of your content going viral.
Posting frequency changes among people, most of us are guilting of only posting a few times a month or even never! This is not the way to approach Tik Tok, in our experience you should be posting at MINIMUM 1 time per day. Ideally 3-5 times per day.?
Don’t use the excuse “I don’t have time”, we all have time that we can find, you can do this stuff while working, at lunch or even just before bed.
Repurpose your content for Instagram Reels, Youtube Shorts and Linkedin.
Once you have all this content, you now are able to repurpose across all different platforms to increase your chance of it going viral.
Think about trying to get 3-5 pieces of content across 3 platforms everyday (Youtube Shorts, Instagram Reels/ Stories and Tik Tok).
