The Ties That Bind - A Friendship Day Poem

To the friends who stand with me now,

And those who once stood tall,

You were threads in the fabric of my life,

But now, some are memories, gone.

Some friends I left,

Some drifted away,

Some vanished, no goodbyes,

Just faded into yesterday.

This is what life brings,

As half a century looms near,

You gather gems, diamonds, angels, and stars,

Not metaphors, but friends I hold dear.

Thanks to the threads of WA,

I’ve sorted them into cherished groups,

For every friend I hold close today,

Is a treasure, come what may.

Tomorrow’s uncertain, But if you’re here,

You’ll walk the path with me, Through the coming years.

Today, let me wish you all,

A heartfelt Friendship Day,

I remember the time so clear,

Racing college corridors,

Ribbons in hand,

Tying them to the ones who caught my eye,

Networking before I even knew the word, Breaking the ice, forging ties.

But friendship is deeper, Than a ribbon can bind,

It’s feeling another’s pain,

Praying selflessly in kind,

Celebrating success,

Wiping away tears, Fighting their demons,

Embracing their angels, And always hoping for miracles near.
