There have numerous very important federal appellate court decisions addressing voting rights in recent weeks.  These courts have all ruled against voter suppression laws which are typically aimed at minorities and the poor.

This is tremendous progress as the New York Times article below suggests.  However, don’t be lulled into any sense of security.  These turning tides could quickly be reversed in the event that a Republican takes the White House in November.

Thousands upon thousands have fought hard inch by inch for voting rights.   This battle will not end.  As history shows us, the rich and powerful will do all within their means to seize our Democracy.   In order to do that, they must first suppress the vote of minorities.  This cannot be allowed to happen on our watch.
