Tid-Bit-TUESDAY: Walkers & Joggers
Here are some safe practices for walkers & joggers:
* Plan and discuss your itinerary with someone you know and trust.
* Equip yourself - carry your ID, a phone, a written contact for emergencies and a personal size OC-spray.
* Walk/Run facing traffic.
* Avoid routes with bushes, dense foliage and/or blind spots. This means, plan-your-route.
* Leave your headphones behind. You'll want ALL of your available senses.
* There is safety in numbers. Grab a friend or 3.
* Avoid running at night. Stay visible.
* Make eye-contact with others around you. Exude awareness and confidence.
* PAY ATTENTION to what is going on around you and in your direction of travel. Stop and change route if something doesn't look quite right.
* Listen to that gut-feeling. It is there for a purpose - preservation.
