Look, we are all in the?“eat what you kill”?business. That’s true whether you’re a solo entrepreneur, a luxury realtor, or a financial advisor in a big firm.?

Your income is entirely dependent on attracting new affluent prospects to your business, and then converting a large percentage of them into paying clients.

All of us are working without a net.

If we don’t get clients…we’re out of business.

It’s as simple as that.

But it’s a mission we accept. In fact, it’s what drives us. It’s exciting.?And when we’re successful we not only make a shitload of money…we get to live our life on our own terms.

While the risks are great…the rewards are amazing.

I tell you that from the perspective of someone who has been doing this for over 30 years.?Someone who has been down to his last $1,500 (twice) but battled back (with the help and advice of some awesome people) to a life in a resort community, with the big house, fancy cars and all the other “stuff” that financial success brings.

?? However, as I said, I didn’t do this alone. ?? Never would have achieved any of this, were it not for the mastermind groups I joined.?That decision was the single most important one I made.

Looking back, the real benefit wasn't necessarily the strategic advice I got about growing my business (although that was extremely important) it was the fact that?I had a group of colleagues who got what this?“eat what you kill’?path we’ve chosen is all about.

I love my friend who works in Public Television.?But he doesn’t really get what my life is like.

I love my friend who’s in the Coast Guard.?But I can’t really talk to him about my challenges.

I love my friend who is a teacher.?But she isn’t able to celebrate my successes, because it’s just too foreign to her.

I remember playing golf with my neighbor Randy Cross, who has 3 Super Bowl Rings, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. I asked him what he missed most about playing.

Randy said,?“My teammates. Playing professional football is a truly unique career and no-one really understands what it’s truly about except for those guys.”

I think the same can be said for the path we have chosen.
