Thyssen To Build Germany's Largest DRI Plant

Recently, ThyssenKrupp (hereinafter referred to as Thyssen) announced plans to invest more than 2 billion euros (about 1.995 billion US dollars, based on the exchange rate on September 15) to build Germany's largest direct reduced iron plant with a design capacity of 2.5 million tons/year.

Martina Merz, CEO of Thyssen AG, said: "We will contribute to the green transition of the German steel industry, and this investment is a testament to this, as it symbolizes the beginning of a new era for German steel production. New Era."

Bernhard, Chairman of the Executive Board of Thyssen Europe, said: "The DRI plant plans to produce more than 2 million tonnes of green high-quality pig iron per year. According to relevant personnel of Thyssen, in the new direct reduction iron plant, the blast furnace will be replaced by a hydrogen-based direct reduction device. At the same time, Thyssen will place a special smelting device downstream of the production line to liquefy pig iron to produce high-quality molten iron. According to Thyssen, all subsequent production steps can be carried out in existing factory lines, thus driving the company towards an efficient, green transition.
