Thunder Terminal claims funds safe after $240K attack, hacker says otherwise

The on-chain trading platform confirmed a 3rd party compromise has led to funds being drained from 114 wallets but claims it has already fixed the issue. The hacker has a different take.

In the dynamic world of cryptocurrency, Thunder Terminal recently became the latest target of hackers. The on-chain trading platform faced a security breach, leading to an unauthorized transfer of assets. Renowned crypto investigator ZachXBT revealed that 86.5 Ethereum, valued at around $192,000, were illicitly moved from Thunder Terminal to the DeFi platform Railgun.

Despite the intrusion, Thunder Terminal promptly addressed the situation. The company confirmed that 114 wallets, out of over 14,000, were impacted. However, they reassured users by stating, "No one's private keys were compromised. Funds are safe.". ?

While Thunder reassured its users that all their data was safe, a memo left by the attacker on Etherscan said otherwise, with the exploiter claiming that Thunder's assurances were “all lies,” and demanded a 50 ETH ($110,000) ransom for the supposedly affected data.? ?
