Throwing Mud Against the Wall: The Tobacco Companies’ Strategy
I have finished a draft of my next book on nicotine, and would like to share some insights I have gained from reading over 1,500 peer reviewed studies about this drug. The book will be the same format as my other 2 books on Alcohol and on Cannabis. I organized the references into topics and write an abstract of the important points, and often include a Table.
To give the reader a flavor and gist of the study, I include the authors own words in italics. For example:
“People choose to smoke”
All defences used by the tobacco companies and now on social media are to create doubt. The most common one now is to downplay the addictiveness of nicotine and that people choose to smoke cigarettes. Of course if it wasn’t for the nicotine no one would be smoking.
Inhaled cellulose and plastic fibres from cigarette filters were found in the human lung.

4 年Hi Cohan, That is a common misconception, but the tobacco plant is just as toxic even if grown naturally. After all it is part of the nightshade family. Natural cigarettes have just as much nicotine and tar as regular cigarettes and produce more particulate matter that gets into the lung deeper. There is no safe cigarette.

4 年How come they would claim such thing. They are not even selling premium natural tobacco anymore. Their products are way more unhealthy comparing to pure dry tobacco leaves.
