Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a good start. As always, here is a quick look at a few things I'm tracking at the intersection of power, deals, trends in emerging tech, and media/entertainment through a pop culture/hip hop lens. This is fuel for your insights and strategy to better reach GenZ and Millennials.
Here we go! Quick one this week.
1) It may not be time for Throwback Thursday yet but...Cey Adams was a legendary head of all things graphic design at Def Jam Records back in the day. From LL Cool J's album covers to Beastie Boys promo items and so much more, Adams was the creative mind behind it all with his small team. He has created an exhibit dedicated to 40 years of his work in the game. Its next stop is on December 4th in Miami at the Museum of Grafitti. It's definitely going to be hot. Entitled the "Cey Adams Departure," this exhibit has been making stops at various cities. However, this particular venue could have boosted interest, revenue, and reach by doing things like a pop-up Web3 community during the exhibit which also offered digital merch for sale. Promo should be heavy with QR codes across social and in digital hip hop mags that lead to an Augmented Reality nibble of some of the pieces that will be shown. These are just only a few examples of innovation strategy. This exhibit is presented by Spotify. Would have been ideal to thread a few other brands into an immersive experience. Just think of the opportunities for work dealing with Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C., and others! How are you going to make sure your 2025 game is as tight as it can be by leveraging such elements and more in an organic way? 2) Whoa! How did I forget to tell you about this?? The A$AP Rocky and Puma collabo leveraging 3D is interesting. It's a complete departure from the traditional way that sneakers are constructed. And there are photos galore right here . I like this partnership because its all kinda the same vibe coming together.
