Throw a Surprise Party for a Millionaire (AKA Host Your Next Seminar)

10 steps to throw a surprise party for a millionaire (and grow your AUM while you’re at it)?

Have you ever thrown a surprise party for a millionaire that also grows your AUM??

That's how I approach the white glove events that we market for our financial advisor clients.

Sometimes advisors think they need to get 1000 bums in seats and convert 100% of those people into new clients.?

That’s a lot of pressure! No wonder you’re frozen and not hosting events quarterly!?

The truth is, you’d probably curl up in a ball if you had 100 new client meetings and transfer forms to fill out.

Luckily, you just need one or two new clients from hosting a manageable, special event experience. And you need a?good mindset (non-negotiable!).

Here’s how to do it broken down into the essential steps (we can get fancier but I want you to do this yourself if you can’t get our help!):

1. Work on growing your network. Here on LinkedIn, for example, you can search for your ideal clients in the search bar, and select your area and 2nd-degree connections. Send a personalized connection request. This is a daily task and ensures you always have a pool of people to market to and invite to events.

2. Next, book a private room at a nice restaurant in your area. You will be hosting a seminar + luncheon there. This room should accommodate a dozen people or so and have tech integrations (a tv or xx). When you book it, get the Chef to give you a menu (main and dessert options) that you can share with others.

3. Pick an approved presentation and make sure it is not general. We want to pick something more niched (business owners, women, retirees, etc.).?

4. Sign up for an approved email software like Mailchimp or Mailerlite (my preference- very user-friendly!) and create a simple landing page that tells people: the name of your event and the details. Create a simple form that collects their email address, name and phone numbers.?

5. Send the landing page link and a personalized invite to your prospects and LinkedIn connections. If you’re fancy, create a Facebook Ad.

6. Send the menu out to those who register for the event and tell them to respond with their choices by a specific date. The day after that date, call them to confirm their choice and attendance.?

7. Submit the menu choices to the Chef. Practice your presentation. Send a reminder email to your guests.

8. Show up with a pad and pen for each guest, place cards and your tech.?

9. Have fun getting to know your connections and hosting them with a lovely lunch. Be sure you tell your guests what kind of clients you work with and how to work with you.

10. Stick around afterward to talk to guests. Some may book meetings there. Send a follow-up email thanking them and include a survey asking if they would like to book a meeting.

Not everyone who attends will be a millionaire and not everyone will become your client. We’re just looking for one or two great clients from this event.

That’s why there’s room at the event for:

  • current clients who will champion you
  • the prospects you’ve been wooing for years
  • centres of influence and community engagers

Little does everyone know, you’re all there to host a party for your next, ideal client. Surprise!??
