Through smaller goals to big achievements
APS FACADE
Building for people, with people. Because everyone deserves a healthy living environment
Who is Elma Hajrulahovic?
What characterizes me most, and what other people notice very quickly, is my restless spirit. I am in constant need of motivation, something that makes me progress in every aspect, and what I can say with certainty is that I function better when I'm too busy. I enjoy days filled with different events.
Describe us your first business experience
I was always inspired by 3D modeling and surely convinced that I would do it, however, my first real job (albeit for a short period) was in manufacturing and I immediately fell in love with that role. My current position in APS - Head of Production, or how I prefer - Production Engineer, confirms satisfaction and invention in that job.
?APS from your point of view?
Over time, APS has also become an organization for attracting different generations, since many young colleagues have joined us recently.?
?A very large number of our colleagues and Engineers are coming from different fields, which is somehow expected, considering that Facade Engineering is a branch that in itself is equally covering architectural, construction, and mechanical aspects. What is certainly not missing is a good atmosphere and willingness to help.?
Describe your current business position to us in three words
Team, drawings, and construction site
Why is quality control important in the production phase?
Quality control is important to ultimately develop a product that meets the client's wishes, and standards, and certainly to ensure that the vision of the architect is accurately transferred from drawings into a real product. This stage is an indispensable part of the process and will forever be so if we want to be a reliable partner and competitive in the market.?

How do you deal with crises and mistakes at work??
Over time, we learn to deal with such situations, but what I can boast about is that in those situations, the whole team works together multidisciplinary and comes up with a solution. Every problem is easier to be borne within a team. We reduce the mistakes with each day of our work since we are fast learners.? Although, in this industry mistakes are common and the truth is, they will always keep appearing.??
What motivates you the most in work?
APS Team comes first - that's what motivates me the most. After that - the dynamic of this work and the thrill that is present in each design. Every project brings a set of new responsibilities, the need for new knowledge to adopt, and new principles to apply.... and what we can expect is that every working day on a new project will bring different challenges.?
How do you spend your free time?
My favorite moments are the ones I spend with my family, and very often I use my free time to run, walk in nature, ride a bike, etc...?
Advice to younger self?
I would advise my younger self not to be driven by excessive, sometimes irrational ambitions. One becomes an engineer not only by accomplishing great things but through a series of seemingly smaller daily accomplishments.?
Earlier, I wanted to achieve success as soon as possible, and today I try to set myself smaller goals to reach some bigger achievements.
With such an approach, we have some success every day, the path is much easier, and the progress is more visible.?
