I looked through the slats
I didn't want to see through slats
Oh.  I can pull up the blinds
But then there are squares in the window
I wish they had no squares
I want to see the whole picture
The window
I could open the window
It is warm enough
Then I can see the whole picture
Oh.  The slats...

All that time looking through them
They gave up their freedom
For a variety of reasons
I suspect a lot are drug and alcohol related
I am sure there are statistics
It makes me sad there are some wrongly convicted
Oh.  Did he confess yet?
He'll be 70 and eligible for parole next year
I hope they keep him behind the slats
Because his ex-wife will never be able to open the blinds again
So neither should he
