Thriving in Uncertainty: My Journey of Adaptability and Resilience in Bangkit 2023

Since joining the Bangkit 2023 program, I realized I need to become adaptive to succeed in my future career. This is because environmental conditions are changing very quickly, especially in technology. The ability to be open to new things and learn them is a must. I have had to get used to it since I joined this program. To navigate this complex and dynamic learning journey, I applied the 5 ways of adaptability: interacting, achieving, learning, working, and thinking.

Interacting

For the first one, I focused on interacting with people in the Bangkit 2023 program. Realizing that I don't have a pure IT background, I have to gain knowledge from those with that background. Exchanging ideas, refuting arguments, and collaborating were commonplace during my time with this program. As someone with a background in earth sciences, I can also provide new insights for those unfamiliar with this field. That is my way of collaborating. Building strong relationships and networks allowed me to exchange ideas, receive feedback, and gain new perspectives on the latest trends and technologies.

Achieving

For the second, I use the Achieving method to adapt to the Bangkit 2023 program. Setting clear goals and metrics for each week achieved a big goal for me, getting the TensorFlow Developer certification. This is also assisted by the Bangkit 2023 team, which has provided the achievement goals that must be completed for each cohort every week. I frequently evaluated my advancement and modified my approaches accordingly by soliciting input and support from my mentors and colleagues. I sustained my drive and accomplished my objectives by preserving a growth mentality and dedication to ongoing development.

Learning

Third, I get a new way of learning to learn new knowledge and skills. I use the Coursera platform as my main learning resource, which is very good for self-study. I gained a lot of technical knowledge from this platform. Besides, there were sessions for technical knowledge directly by speakers who were practitioners on the topics discussed. Apart from going through platforms and live sessions through Google Meet, I can also participate in podcasts or webinars provided by the Bangkit 2023 team through the YouTube channel. The interesting thing is that all of them are based on real projects that the industry needs right now! This is what I did not get on campus. By embracing a learning mindset and seeking out diverse experiences, I was able to broaden my horizons and develop new competencies.

Working

As I embarked on the Bangkit 2023 program, I consciously tried to leverage my working methods to optimize my productivity and efficiency. I developed a comprehensive approach that included several key strategies to do so. Firstly, I established clear priorities for my tasks and responsibilities, taking into account both their urgency and importance. Secondly, I used agile project management methodologies to ensure that I stayed on track. By doing so, I maintained high flexibility and adaptability, which proved critical in changing circumstances and shifting priorities.

Additionally, I remained highly organized throughout the process, keeping track of deadlines, milestones, and other critical details. Finally, I remained committed to delivering high-quality work, which required keen attention to detail and a willingness to revise and improve my work.

Thinking

As a part of my adaptability skill set, I also applied my ways of thinking to develop a strategic mindset, which enabled me to anticipate future challenges and opportunities. To achieve this, I regularly reflected on my experiences and analyzed them deeply to identify the potential gaps in my thinking process. Additionally, I proactively sought feedback from my mentors and peers, using this information to adjust my strategies and approaches as needed. This helped me to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in my field and to build a more comprehensive perspective on the problems I was solving. By developing a flexible and adaptive mindset, I could stay ahead of the curve and prepare for future changes, which ultimately helped me grow and succeed in my role.

Overall, the 5 ways of adaptability were essential to my success in the Bangkit 2023 program. By embracing new challenges and environments and applying these skills, I was able to thrive in a dynamic and competitive learning journey. These skills will undoubtedly serve me well in my future endeavors in the technology industry, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have honed them through my participation in the program.
