Thriving Together: Meet Susan Morris

Thriving Together: Meet Susan Morris

Leveraging diverse perspectives allows us to develop better overall solutions to the problems we face. In this series, we take time to recognize our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the work they do to create an environment where all employees can thrive. In each series post, we will be highlighting a member nominated by an ERG.

Tell us about your role at Mass General Brigham and your role within the ERG you were nominated by.

In my role at McLean Hospital , I oversee the Administrative Services, Supply Chain, BioMed, Food Services, Cardiology, Radiology, and Transportation Services. We have strong teams at McLean that manage the day to day for inpatient and residential needs across all these services. I enjoy seeing the successful collaboration of my teams with our clinical staff, as we offer service excellence and timely responses to all the needs of our patient population. It is a busy time for McLean and Mass General Brigham with the opportunity of technology improvements and updates in our processes. McLean is also working towards an opening of the new Child and Adolescents building on the Belmont campus in the coming years, which is an exciting time. I appreciate the opportunity to work with so many great people and to be part of the Mass General Brigham enterprise.

How has this ERG positively impacted you?

I have been involved with the Women's ERG since its creation many years ago and supported the rebranding to the Women's Initiative Network (WIN). I have been more actively involved in the last 5 years and most recently as the Career Chair since 2022. I have enjoyed networking with our colleagues and bringing the WIN team together for in person events and online forums. It has given me the opportunity to meet many strong women through Mass General Brigham and build great relationships. I enjoy the professional connections and the personal ones.?

?

What has been your favorite experience while participating in this ERG and what are you looking forward to in the next few months??

My favorite experience is the connections that you make with WIN team members, as well as members in other ERGs, and supporting each other’s endeavors.

I also enjoy our events such as WIN Careers Virtual Drop-In, managed by Sarah Tirtzah: a lunchtime discussion for women to share professional and personal successes and challenges and to support one another. It is a great way to connect across the system with women from all different areas.? For Women's History Month, we will have a panel discussion on March 20, "No Apologies Necessary: Showing up as your authentic self individually and within our relationships" and we are working towards planning our all member gathering in August.

WIN is just a great way to really enjoy your professional experience and connect on a higher level with colleagues. If any Mass General Brigham employees wish to learn more, don’t hesitate to send me a message!
