Thriving Together: Meet Richard Lee

Leveraging diverse perspectives allows us to develop better overall solutions to the problems we face. In this series, we take time to recognize our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the work they do to create an environment where all employees can thrive. In each series post, we will be highlighting a member nominated by an ERG.

What would you like employees to know about the new Mass General Brigham Pan-Asia Pacific Alliance?

It is a commitment from a group of folks who want to highlight the AAPI experience. To elevate the concerns, provide a voice and celebrate the culture and AAPI employees throughout the Mass General Brigham system.

?

How will this new employee resource group contribute to a diverse and inclusive organization?

AAPI employees comprise a high fraction of Mass General Brigham and all the hospitals. For many AAPI employees, there are not many in leadership, we want to make certain that we can gather and discuss our concerns and issues and raise them up for the entire community. In this era with COVID-19 and seeing discrimination of many different groups in the U.S., in particular with the AAPI hate that occurred with the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It led us to be inspired to be sure that we could come together as a community. What I would like us to do is provide a grounds or meeting spot for people who are AAPI and all the other ERGs to support and advance each other.

?

Why is it important to have a month focused on the cultures of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders?

We need to make certain that we raise our voices and experience so we can make Mass General Brigham a more inclusive place. By creating this group and interfacing with the other ERGs, we can support each other.
