Thriving Together: Meet Cindy Marchando
Leveraging diverse perspectives allows us to develop better overall solutions to the problems we face. In this series, we take time to recognize our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the work they do to create an environment where all employees can thrive. In each series post, we will be highlighting a member nominated by an ERG.
Tell us about your role at Mass General Brigham and your role within the ERG you were nominated by.
As the Manager of Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) Coding at Mass General Brigham, I play a vital role in enhancing healthcare coding accuracy and completeness, ultimately leading to improved patient care. Leading a team of 40, I manage the performance of risk adjustment programs, audits and new initiatives.
In my capacity as the board chair of the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) ERG, I am deeply dedicated to fostering inclusion and diversity within our organization. Drawing upon my expertise in HCC risk capture, I possess a meticulous attention to detail which helps ensure that all voices in the ERG are not only heard but also valued and represented. I firmly believe that diversity in the workplace strengthens our company, bringing forth a range of perspectives and experiences that enable us to thrive. I am committed to making a tangible difference in both the healthcare and corporate realms, envisioning spaces where all individuals can prosper.

How has this ERG positively impacted you?
Joining WIN has been a game-changer for me. Not only have I been able to connect with other like-minded individuals who share similar goals but being part of this group has given me a sense of belonging. They have provided me with valuable resources, training, and professional development opportunities that have helped me excel in my career. Being part of WIN has helped me gain confidence and hone my leadership skills, which has had a positive impact not only on my work environment but also in my personal life. WIN is an excellent example of how employee resource groups can help build inclusive workplaces where individuals can thrive and succeed. I cannot stress enough how important it is to join an employee resource group like WIN, where support, growth, and empowerment are at the forefront of the organization's goals.

What has been your favorite experience while participating in this ERG and what are you looking forward to in the next few months??
My favorite experience is the annual Women's Day event, inspired by the National Women's History Month theme where women in our organization come together and share their professional and personal stories to uplift and motivate each other. I am excited about the upcoming months to join thought-provoking panels, participate in community service projects and connect with like-minded individuals from all corners of the country embarking on a journey of growth and empowerment.
