Thrive Therapy Space Member Spotlight: Ayrn Herron
Thrive Therapy Space LLC
A coworking space dedicated to helping mental health professionals find community, collaboration, and connection.
Ayrn is an LPC, NCC, and a CCSP and has been a member of Thrive since 2019. She is excited and energized by working with people who have ADHD and autism. In hearing her describe what she loves about working with these groups, it's clear her clients are in good hands.
Ayrn began her education with a bachelors in Sociology from Edinboro and then completed her masters in counseling from Gannon. Initially, Ayrn was interested in studying business pre-law. She realized this pursuit was unrealistic because, in her own words, she didn’t like to argue. After some time off, counseling became her main interest.
Ayrn’s interest in counseling came from her experiences with a guidance counselor in high school. This counselor had a significant influence on Ayrn and helped guide and support her as she transitioned to life outside of secondary education. Moved by the impact a counselor can have on a person’s life, this became Ayrn’s new area of focus.
Before pursuing private practice, she was grounded in community based mental health– and was pretty much always working two jobs. At the beginning of her career she worked at the Barber Center. This work was in helping those in transitional living and group homes. As the Lakeshore Community Services program specialist Ayrn also ran a group home.
Later in her career, Ayrn worked as a student assistance counselor through Sarah Reed as well as a mobile therapist through Stairways and Sarah Reed for 10 years.
Following the trend of enjoying working with adolescents and transition age youth, she worked at a local high school and provided ongoing counseling and assistance. The job involved getting clients connected with higher levels of service, which she really liked.

Ayrn’s career in community based mental health is extensive, made clear by the experience listed above. Her work also includes being a targeted case manager through Stairways where she worked with transition age youth, working for an EAP, in managed mental health care, and at the Achievement Center.
Her persistence and passion in this field comes from a deep appreciation for the different ways minds work. Having developed an understanding of her skills and who she enjoys working with, Ayrn entered the world of private practice. In June of 2019, she met Penny and was introduced to Thrive Therapy Space. She noted that having Thrive as a home base during the height of the pandemic was particularly helpful, when the isolation of private practice was at its most intense. “It saved my will,” she said about being able to come to the Thrive offices. We are incredibly lucky to have Ayrn in our community. Thank you for all you do!
