Thrilling experience of water sports on Paradise Island!

Under Sea walk

Under sea walk is a once in a lifetime experience for everyone, especially for non-swimmers and non-divers to undergo the ultimate sensation where time stops, worries fade away and breathing underwater becomes effortless. The activity commences with a motor-boat transfer from the centre of Grand-Baie to a platform situated inside the lagoon at the North of Mauritius. As a person arrives to the platform he receives a pre-departure briefing on the gear, the local marine life, safety procedures and under water walking trail. Coast guards provide him with specially designed clothes, helmet with a transparent visor, oxygen cylinders and an apparatus for supporting his breathing underwater. With the assistance of accompanying guide, tourists are taken off the platform to start their undersea walk adventure. While discovering the pleasurable walk on the bed of Indian Ocean,they witness the rich sea life under the crystal clear blue waters of the lagoon. Tube ride

Tube ride is an amazing and exciting activity on a colorful boat. A tube is attached to a motor boat which may be either round or banana shaped. Round tubes made of rubber have 15-20 inch high walls for protection and it can accommodate 1-4 persons in it depending on the size of the tube. Banana tubes are long with no side walls. As the boat drives at high speed,it pulls the tube along with it creating much excitement with loud screaming at the top of their lungs for the riders. The latter have to hang on tight until the motor-boat driver topples the tube riders in water creating all the more fun for them. The coast guards provide a safety jacket to everyone. This ride lasts for 15 minutes. This expedition is possible at Ile aux Cerfs, Belle Mare and Grand Baie.

Parasailing

For those looking for a special sea-air activity, parasailing is recommended. Parascending commonly known as parasailing is the activity where a parascender is tossed behind a speed boat attached to a specially designed parachute, parasail. Taken off from a pontoon anchored in the middle of the sea, the speed boat drives off pulling the parascender until he gathers enough speed and altitude in the air. It a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the beautiful lagoon and awesome beaches of Mauritius. A slight dip in the sea furthermore adds a refreshing plunge! Two or three persons can parasail together if the boat is powerful enough. This expedition takes 25-30 minutes including the parasail flight of 5-12 minutes. Parasailing can be enjoyed at Grand Baie, Belle Mare and Ile aux Cerfs Island.

Water Ski

Gliding in style, water skis are utterly exhilarating. The water ski activity commence with a short boat trip to the starting point inside the lagoons where skis and life jackets are provided. Pulled behind a motor-boat, holding the tow rope the skier stands upright on the ski with the surface of the ski keeping the skier skimming on the water surface. Tamarin bay is the best spot for wind surfing due to its ideal sideways winds and shallow water lagoons. Le Morne provides another good windsurfing spot known as One Eye Wave. Windsurfing can also be experienced in Rivière des Gallet in front of the small island Ilot Sancho but this spot is not appropriate for beginners because of strong water current there.

Sea Kayaking

It’s spacious and can accommodate 2 adults and a child. This activity begins with providing a life jacket, briefing and safety instructions. A qualified instructor escorts the traveler during the whole journey. Sea hover is also equipped with a communication system which is connected to the switch onboard of the security boat. This voyage can be done at Bentier’s Island, Le Morne and Flic en Flac.

Snorkeling
