Thrilled to Share My Internship Experience at Invention Controls!

I’m excited to announce the successful completion of my internship at Invention Controls, where I had the privilege of diving deep into the fascinating world of industrial automation. My focus was on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor control systems, and the various components that power modern industries. This hands-on experience has been a transformative journey, providing me with invaluable knowledge and skills that will guide me in my future career.

?? Day 1: Immersing into Invention Controls

On the first day, I was introduced to the core business of servicing and maintaining VFDs and branded motor drives. I quickly learned the pivotal role Invention Controls plays in helping industries optimize performance, reduce costs, and achieve energy efficiency. This introduction gave me insight into how VFDs control the speed and torque of electric motors, which are essential in automation.

? Day 2-4: Mastering Electrical & Electronics Fundamentals

The early stages of my internship focused on reinforcing my understanding of electrical and electronic systems. Concepts such as Ohm’s Law, AC/DC circuits, and key components like resistors, capacitors, and transistors became the foundation of my learning. These fundamentals helped me appreciate the intricate designs of electronic circuits that control complex machinery.

?? Day 5-6: Exploring Motors & Transformers

I delved into the workings of electric motors, studying both AC and DC motors, and their industrial applications. I also learned about motor connections like star (Y) and delta (Δ) configurations, essential for operating motors. My knowledge expanded further into transformers, understanding their design for voltage regulation in industrial circuits.

?? Day 7-10: Hands-On with Contactor Switches, DOL Starters, and VFDs

Working with contactor switches and Direct On-Line (DOL) starters gave me hands-on experience in motor control. The highlight was learning how VFDs regulate motor performance, achieving energy efficiency and smoother operations—a critical takeaway in modern engineering.

?? Day 12-14: Soldering, Advanced Components & Final Skills

In the final stages, I enhanced my soldering techniques and worked with advanced components such as Switched-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) and Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs). Understanding these components was essential to navigating more complex systems. I also worked on control cards and power boards, further solidifying my expertise in VFD management.

The successful completion of my internship at Invention Controls from August 2, 2024, to August 16, 2024. During this period, I gained valuable hands-on experience in industrial automation, particularly focusing on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems. This opportunity allowed me to deepen my technical skills and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, all while receiving positive feedback on my performance. I am excited to bring these new insights into my academic and professional journey!
