Three WINNING Formula

Three WINNING Formula

How did your Monday go? Did your week start off great? Or did you run into trouble?

Or, more likely, were you pumped yesterday but feel like you're losing it this morning?

If you are hitting an obstacle, sometimes it's because you don't have the right advice from people... Or you're thinking too small... Or you need help...

Here are 3 winning formulas to making your day, your week, your year, and, ultimately, your life great...

#1 — Show up early for everything.

Vince Lombardi had this 15-minute rule where he said “champions show up 15 minutes early.”

Look, if you want to take some stress out of your life... If you want to be excited and motivated... Show up early for every event. Don't be late.

Now, I've said in the past that you should rush from one place to another. From one event to the next, you should be running.

Yes, you should and you should show up early. So what if you are 10 minutes early or 15 minutes early or 5 minutes early. Hey, it’s better to be early than to be late.

Look, if you go in feeling bad about it because you’re late and you’re having to be like "oh guys, sorry I am late, I got caught up in traffic and the ambulance got in front of me."

Rather than taking control of the situation, now you’re spending all your energy making up excuses, exaggerating, maybe even lying. Why? Because you didn’t get there early.

Dude, the ambulance had nothing to do with you being late. You didn’t leave early enough to show up early and that’s why you were late.

You want to be motivated? You want to stay excited; you want to feel good about yourself? You want to be ethical, dependable? You want to be the person that everybody counts on?

Show up early and show up early for everything.

#2 — Go the extra mile.

If you say, "I have to do 20 push-ups." Then go another two.

See that’s what I like to do. I like to add a little 10 percent to everything. I think I finish something and then I go a little further.

Why? Why do that? Because I am trying to discipline myself to believe in me.

Look, what is more important than motivation, inspiration, being excited? I’ve got to go the extra mile.

By the way I am not doing it for anybody. I AM DOING IT FOR ME!

See, if I can’t do it for me I am not going to do it for anybody else.

Be honest with yourself. Could you do something extra?

And what would that do for you if you did?

So let’s say you got a client. You told the client that you were going to do "X" and then you do "X" plus another mile.

Who benefits? Who really benefits the most?

You’re saying, "Oh Ramesh, the client benefits the most." No, you do! You benefit the most because you know you did what you said you would do and a little more.

It’s about you being motivated. Go the extra mile even after you know that you’ve already satisfied your commitment.

#3 — Push yourself further.

Many times you think you just cannot push yourself any further... You feel you have reached your limit.

When this happens, instead of abandoning your goals (which is what most people do), look for a coach, trainer, associate, friend, or someone to actually help you discover that you can do more... That you can go harder and reach the goals you have set.

The moment a person gets the idea that they can do more, the doors open to opportunity and possibility. You begin to think "hey, I just did that so what else is possible? What else can I do and how fast can I do it?"

Pushing yourself to do more than you think is possible isn’t intended to wear your out. It actually has the opposite effect. You get motivated when you see what you can accomplish. It’s important to surround yourself with people who support this thinking and are out there pushing themselves too.

Instead of surrounding yourself with people who breach your dreams and goals with negativity, find a trainer or a mastermind group of others who are striving for more. Hold one another accountable and encourage doing more, not less.

To Your Breakthrough,

Ramesh Patra.
