As the world of work evolves and technology advances, leadership also changes.

The world in which leaders lead and how they must lead is changing and requiring leaders to adapt. One person paying close attention to these changes is Simon Mainwaring , Founder & CEO of We First .

He highlights three trends that are transforming leadership:

  1. Leaders are allowed to be more human. Employees want to connect with their leaders as people, not just figureheads. Leaders are allowed and encouraged to be more human and show their true personalities and interests. Employees want transparency and a leader who is authentically themselves.
  2. Cultures are more inclusive. The traditional hierarchy is disappearing, and we’re moving away from command and control. Many organizations are creating cultures where all voices are heard and welcomed. Leaders and companies are focusing more on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  3. Leadership is much more collaborative. Our problems today are bigger than any one leader or company can solve on their own. Leaders and companies are working together to tackle society’s big issues. Leaders can no longer simply work for their organization—they have to take a stand and make a positive difference in the world.

As leadership changes, the skills and mindsets of leaders will also change. Successful leaders are willing to adapt to best serve their organizations.

Humanistic as a Managment style is frowned upon by many management dinosaurs, it’s time they listened to the team they continually pretend to understand but clearly don’t. Collaboration and inclusiveness coupled with self awareness makes a true leader.

Is this a change in leadership, or an increased level of accountability to be a good leader that respects and honors the teams that they lead? Probably both.
