Let’s have fair maps in Milwaukee County

Do you think Milwaukee County Board Supervisors should create electoral maps that make it easier for them to be elected? I don’t. I think we should focus 100% of our map-making efforts on fairness and 0% on protecting politicians’ seats.?Unfortunately, some of my colleagues disagree with me. They think Milwaukee County’s county board maps should be written so it’s easier for each of us to get re-elected.?

If you agree with me, please share your opinion by Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 5 pm with Milwaukee County’s Independent Redistricting Committee and with the Milwaukee County Board. Tell them politely that you support fair maps above all - and oppose protecting incumbents.??

2022 Budget - What Are Your Priorities?

How would you amend the 2022 budget? Now is your time to share your ideas.?

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley released his budget proposal on Friday, Oct. 1. For a summary, I’d recommend reading this Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article. For all of the details, please read the 2022 Budget Proposal.?

During the week of Oct. 11, our Finance Committee (which I sit on) will hear proposals from departments and weigh budget amendments.?If you have thoughts or suggestions on how you’d like to see the 2022 budget changed, please email me and let me know. Or if there’s an area of the county you’d like to see prioritized, please let me know that, too.?

Seeking Your ARPA Ideas

How should Milwaukee County allocate $183.6 million that it’s receiving as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)? Now is your opportunity to share your ideas. Share them via this website.

I am humbled to serve as co-chair of Milwaukee County’s ARPA Task Force, which is tasked with collecting ideas from the public this fall, weighing the ideas this winter and with making a recommendation to the county board in the spring.??
