The Three Universal Outcomes Of Enterprise Agility

Great companies need to consider the 3 universal outcomes of Enterprise Agility. In today's rapidly changing business environment, organizations must be prepared for market disruptions at any time. Whether it's a global pandemic, changing consumer behavior, or a new technological advancement, disruptions can come in all shapes and sizes and have a significant impact on a company's business model and success.

A key factor that can help organizations effectively navigate market disruptions is an Always Ready, Always Responsive, and Always Innovative culture. These are the Three Universal Outcomes of Enterprise Agility (see below, right-hand side).

An always-ready culture is continuously prepared for all eventualities and has the necessary social systems and processes in place to respond quickly to disruptions and with low levels of stress. This includes coming together naturally to solve a problem while feeling safe, looking at the situation from other perspectives (reframing), and regularly updating and testing contingency plans. It also involves ensuring that all team members have higher levels of Mental Agility to manage their emotions and continue to be proactive, even when the situation changes radically. Technologies such as AI or Bigdata also play a role here in magnifying the understanding of what is happening, identifying what might be important, and minimizing what isn't.

An always-responsive culture, on the other hand, is the organization's ability to quickly adapt and react to changing circumstances. This means it's able to seize new opportunities as they arise, rather than sticking to a rigid plan that may no longer be relevant in the face of disruption (unexpected events of great magnitude). Technologies such as AI can be used here to maximize or amplify the impact of the strategic response and improve execution.

An always-innovative culture is also an important component of an effective response to disruption. By continually fostering a culture of strategic innovation, organizations can stay ahead of the curve and are better equipped to anticipate and prepare for future situations. This may include encouraging team members to develop new ideas and solutions, investing in different types of innovation while being strategic, and leveraging new technologies and approaches. AI can be used here in conjunction with neural networks or others to amplify the impact of strategic innovation and reduce cost.

An always-ready, always-responsive, and always-innovative culture can provide a number of benefits to companies during times of disruption. First, the word "always" implies that it's sustainable over time. This is an important requirement for companies that are exposed to accelerated or exponential change. If companies aren't sustainable and have low levels of organizational health, they'll not be able to survive in the long term. "Always" is also a powerful enabler that helps leaders get into the right mindset so the organization can seize new opportunities and find innovative ways to become stronger and more resilient in the face of upheaval.

From the product perspective, an always-ready, always-responsive, and always-innovative culture can also help organizations better connect with their customers and stakeholders. By adapting quickly to fast-changing circumstances and offering innovative solutions and experiences, companies can demonstrate their commitment to meeting the needs and expectations of their customers and stakeholders in perpetuity. This can help build trust and loyalty, which ultimately drives the long-term success of the organization (be "always").

Therefore, the Three Universal Outcomes of Enterprise Agility applied to any organization in the world (even if they aren't software-centric) are critical for long-term success and transition from older mindsets or models (Agile, Business Agility, etc.) to the new foundations of Enterprise Agility.
