Is your business using Twitter to gain customers, engage your audience, and increase brand reputation? If not, your business is missing out on a platform that does so much more than publish snappy tweets in 280 characters.
Twitter is evolving so quickly, and if you haven’t checked out what it can do for your business in the last year or so, you’ll find that it’s a whole new platform with tons of features you can use to promote your brand. It’s time to take a fresh look at Twitter and reevaluate its use for marketing purposes.
Twitter Is The New Town Square
Twitter is so useful to our world that if it didn’t already exist, someone would need to invent it. Twitter is our new town square, where people go to share ideas, see what’s happening in the world and connect with each other. That’s exactly where your business should “see and be seen” to gain new customers and engage with your current audience.
Three Twitter Features Your Business Can’t Ignore
As Twitter has evolved, more and more features have been added that business owners and marketing teams can use to reach out to new audiences. These three features are, in my opinion, the future of marketing and brand-building on Twitter.
Live Audio And Video On Twitter Spaces
Twitter Spaces allows brands to host or participate in live audio conversations, much like Clubhouse, or stream live audio and video. It takes a few simple clicks to create a Twitter Space, and you can even schedule your spaces weeks in advance to give your audience time to plan for joining them.
All Twitter Spaces are public, so anyone can join, but not everyone can talk. You, as the host, can invite up to 10 people at a time to talk, and you have the power to mute or remove them if they don’t behave.
Twitter Spaces is your personal thought leadership platform. This is where your business can stream live audio or video, create thought-provoking content, and show off your expertise to the wider world. If you’re a leader in your space (or you want to be), Twitter Spaces gives you a platform to show off your authority and authenticity in your market.
Want to spread your knowledge and make a little revenue, too? Twitter Spaces also allows for ticketed spaces, where people must purchase a ticket to attend your Twitter Space, and you, as the creator, can earn up to 97% of the?ticket price.

Reach Your Audience With Twitter Newsletters
In January 2021, Twitter acquired the newsletter service Revue, and now Twitter users can publish and even monetize their own newsletters right on Twitter. Businesses can offer free or paid newsletters and add a “subscribe” button to their profiles so it’s easy to find for users who are interested in following your brand.
Unlike Twitter Spaces, newsletter readers don’t have to be present on any particular day or time to interact with your newsletter. It’s simply sitting in their inbox, waiting for them when the time is right. Twitter newsletters are perfect for cooler leads who want to get to know your brand a little more before investing their “live” time into joining a Space.
Twitter Communities Helps You Speak Directly To Audiences
Twitter is becoming so much more about community building. One-off tweets are still a lot of fun, but building a community of raving fans is where Twitter really shines.
Twitter Communities allows your brand to create groups based on whatever criteria is important to your brand. Geo-local, interest-based, specific products or topics, Twitter Communities allows you to segment your list and speak directly to your audience in laser-focused ways. Similar to Facebook Groups, Twitter Communities allows members to converse, ask questions, share knowledge, post images and engage with each other and your brand. Twitter Communities are not private, but only members can post or reply.
How can you use Twitter Communities in your business? Think about groups you serve and how a community could serve them. Could you create groups based on the types of problems you solve or the communities you serve? Your options are nearly limitless when you think creatively.
How Will I Know If My Twitter Efforts Working?
Twitter is unique because of its in-depth analytics. In your activity dashboard, you’ll find rich insights like usage analytics so you can see which of your Twitter activities is working hardest for your brand. Then you can replicate those activities and tweak the other ones so they perform better.
It’s Time For Your Business To Get Serious About Twitter
With so many social platforms out there, it can be hard to figure out where to focus your efforts. In my opinion, Twitter is the future of business marketing. Take advantage of the incredible features I’ve listed above, and take control of your business’ future on social media.
