Three Things We Can All Learn From Great Super Bowl Ads

Great brands build emotional bonds; and create a lifetime of loyalty

With all the Super Bowl excitement…comes lots of attention on advertising.

We all have heard about the brands vying for a top SuperBowl Ad. Millions are spent on creating a message that will connect & stand out among the pack. Buying a 30 second Super Bowl ad can cost as much as $5 million dollars.

Return on Investment of advertising is essential. It is difficult to make Super Bowl ad payout. The ads who did it best, focused on emotionally connecting us to their brand.

We can all learn from what great Super Bowl ads do:

  • Be relatable – Like the famous 2011 Volkswagen ad who highlighted the kid with the special “Super Powers”… Parents can relate to the desire to provide magical experiences for our kids.
  • Be inspiring – like the famous 2013 Budweiser Clydesdale ad; the trainer helped a colt reach his dream of becoming part of the Clydesdale team. Be the trainer or coach who is there for others, who puts in the time.
  • Be thankful – What got our emotional heartstrings in that ad was when the Clydesdale ran back to find his trainer after seeing him along the parade route. Giving thanks is easy to do, and often gets forgotten in our busy lives.

These great Super Bowl ads connected us and built emotional loyalty.
