Three things Mardi Gras taught me
1. The show must go on. It doesn’t matter if you have found something you would rather be doing, or if the conditions have changed, you have made a commitment so get on with it! Even if you end up more bedraggled than bedazzled. Once you accept that it is happening your mind does a shift from thinking of ways out to enjoying whats ahead. And as Nadine A said "there is nothing better than dancing in the rain!" although the smell of wet feathers is not to be recommended!
2. Just say yes. If I didn’t say YES to our Head of Events crazy idea for me to be part of the "show" at our last annual awards, I would never have had the opportunity to participate in the Mardi Gras on Saturday night, and it really was the experience of a life-time. You never know where one experience is going to lead.
3. Oprah is right "The magic happens outside of your comfort zone". Pushing outside of your normal boundaries, pushing through things youre scared of, expands your comfort zone and gives you an incredible sense of satisfaction, as well as the most sensational experiences and opportunities - who knows what is next!!
Business lessons from the Mardi Gras Parade....who knew??!! Well done!
