Three Things That Get Your Resume Blocked By ATSs

If you're sick of failing to get interviews when you're qualified, there are things you can do about it.

Here are three things that get your resume blocked by ATSs:

1. Incompatible Formats:?Some file formats aren't compatible with default ATS settings. Even if you're sending a compatible file format, some document formatting can't be read by ATSs, some formats cause information to be ignored or put in the wrong fields. General rule about formatting - Keep it simple to avoid being blocked by ATSs.
2. Lack Of Customization:?ATSs are designed to block resumes with little or no customization, regardless of your qualifications. If you aren't customizing your resume, you aren't trying to get it through an ATS, and it's the top reason qualified candidates don't get interviews. If you're only spending a small amount of time customizing, you're barely trying. Invest more time to heavily customize resumes - You'll get through the ATS more often and get more interviews.
3. Your Resume Presents Possible Employer Risks:?If you're unemployed - you present an employer risk: Were you an under or average performer (even if you were cut in a mass layoff). If you're age 40+ or in a high level role you appear to have higher compensation needs - you present a risk here also: Are you worth your higher perceived cost? ATSs are used to screen out candidates that present risk, so you'll need to learn how to get around ATSs to get more interviews when your resume presents employer risk.

These are all problems with solutions ... But if you're getting blocked by ATSs for jobs when you're qualified, you're just not using the right solutions.
