Three Takeaways from Fenton-ColorComm’s Voices of Change Panel
Last week, I had the honor of moderating an insightful ColorComm panel discussion highlighting the transformative work of BIPOC women in political and social advocacy communications. The event, “Voices of Change - How Women of Color Are Redefining Political Messaging,” brought together four dynamic women – LaTosha Brown (Black Voters Matter), Clarissa Martinez de Castro (UNIDOS), Mishara Davis (State Voices), and Aarti Kohli (Asian Law Caucus) – in progressive politics, each using their platforms to challenge archaic narratives and push for systemic change.?
It was clear from the discussion that women of color are not just participating in politics and social justice movements in record numbers — we are completely reimagining them.?
Here are three takeaways from the discussion.?
As we look to the future, it is clear that women of color are both making history and setting the standard for how we talk about the issues defining our time. The fight for equity is far from over, but with women like LaTosha, Aarti, Mishara, and Clarissa at the forefront of the movement, the future of political advocacy is in powerful, capable hands.
