ICONIC AUCTIONEERS ARE BRINGING THESE THREE STUNNERS TO HEADLINE THEIR SALE AT THE SILVERSTONE FESTIVAL 23rd – 25th AUGUST.

If its Supercars for you then Iconic Auctioneers sale at the Silverstone Festival on 24th amp; 25th August is a date for your diary of must-see events.nbsp; Two Ferraris and a rare Lamborghini are just three of the supercars in the line-up.

In all their breath-taking elegance they offer a head scratching moment for speed aficionados. If you just can’t make up your mind you might take all three and still have change from £1.5m, knowing that your collection has just got that much more serious.

The 1992 Simpson-Ferrari V12 GTR offers a unique opportunity to acquire a car with a fascinating story to tell and the distinction of being the only V12 example, as well as providing serious performance and an addictive soundtrack. It is guided at £500,000 - £600,000. World Champion Mauro Baldi, who drove the car at the 6 Hours of Vallelunga with Richard Jones and Fabio Montani said, “What a nice and quick car to drive. Much better than the turbo original car!” Harry Whale, Car Specialist at Iconic Auctioneers who sourced the car, says: “Born out of the strong relationship between UK-based Simpson Motorsport and the Ferrari factory in the 1990s/early 2000s, the car is featured in Keith Bluemel’s well-researched tome ‘Ferrari F40: a comprehensive look at one of Ferrari’s greatest and most revered cars’. We quote a couple of paragraphs taken from page 123 and some of Stefano Sebastiani’s personal recollections explaining the history of the car and how it came about.” “In the UK, a chassis tub was radically modified by Simpson Motorsport for a client, Stefano Sebastiani, in 2001.

This project has an interesting history starting when Simpson Motorsport ran for Stefano Sebastiani his Ferrari 348 LM, chassis 95450, in endurance races between 1993 and 1995, including two Le Mans 24 Hours entries in 1993 and 1994. Through its racing with the 348 LM, Simpson and Sebastiani formed a strong relationship with Mr. Felisa of the Ferrari Factory and it wouldnt be unreasonable to say that probably led to the production of the Michelotto-built 348 Competizione and 348 GTC/LM models during 1994.” “Stefano Sebastiani had a very strong racing relation with Robin Simpson Smith since the early eighties when he moved to England from Italy. Robin ran and drove for Sebastiani his Chevron B36 ex-Randaccio, his Simpson Group 6 Cosworth, his March 81/7 ex-Danny Sullivan and Teo Fabi, the 348 LM and finally the Simpson Ferrari F40 V12. The opportunity to build up the Simpson-Ferrari V12 came to Robin and Stefano, after Sebastiani was offerednbsp;an original, post crash-test, F40 chassis from Maranello.

This was financially a very costly operation, but Sebastiani managed to do it and through this amicable working relationship with Robin Smith of Simpsons, they built up a unique race car, but rather than follow the V8 twin-turbo route of the standard car, they installed a normally-aspirated type F133 V12 Ferrari 550 Maranello engine, mated to a Hewland transmission. Apart from this departure from the original design, the project featured, amongst other things, much-lightened F40 GTE-style bodywork, a full FIA roll-cage, 11in-width x 18in-diameter front wheels, 12.5in-width x 18in-diameter rear wheels, and custom-made suspension. The car was further upgraded in 2005 with the fitment of a Hewland NLT six-speed sequential transmission.”

Once built, the V12 GTR was subsequently campaigned at various events in the UK and Europe (see period results on iconicauctioneers.com). After these years of competition, the car has been dry stored and well looked after and, in 2023, it was removed from storage and shaken down at Turweston Airfield, subsequently being fully checked and gone through by Simpson Motorsport who confirm that it sounds as good as it looks. Simpson Motorsport have also confirmed that they are happy to provide technical assistance to the new buyer if required. Accompanying the car is a history file containing drawings and specification details relating to its original build, a number of relevant invoices, and its UK V5C confirming that it’s road-registered as a ‘Simpson Ferrari GTR’ with the UK registration number, ‘J848 JUY’. Offered at a fraction of the likely asking price for an F40 LM, this remarkable V12 GTR is potentially eligible for some of the most prestigious motorsport events across the globe and is road registered. 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 SE Coupé - Car #9 of 42 - 564 miles from new Estimated at £400,000 - £500,000 The last of the line, run-out model of any significant car is desirable, but when it’s a rare factory Special Edition and one of only 42 examples produced worldwide, it takes ‘desirable’ to the next level. Benefiting from all the upgrades, a 205mph capability, it features a legendary 550bhp normally-aspirated V12 and has covered just over 500 miles from new. An opportunity like this is incredibly rare and Iconic Auctioneers are extremely proud to offer this car to market. The right-hand drive SE presented here is #9 of the 42 produced, dates from 2001 and is finished in Oro Elios or Gold Helios (Helios was one of the Titans, son of Hyperion and Theia and was the personification of the Sun). It was delivered new to Hong Kong, where it formed part of a significant Collection and was stored and maintained to the highest standards prior to being imported into the UK (with all taxes paid) and registered Y453 FBA. Benefiting from a thorough inspection/service at Lamborghini Tunbridge Wells (27th December 2023), this immaculate modern-classic supercar has covered an almost-inconceivably low 564 miles from new.

It is as special as you would wish it to be, in superbly unused and beautifully preserved condition, the epitome of collector-quality. nbsp;nbsp; Joe Watts, Car specialist who consigned the car, comments: “Early Diablos have been, quite wrongly, considered almost a ‘Countach-plus’- but this late 6.0-litre VT SE feels much closer to Lamborghini’s future at the point it was created, a dynamic preview of much of what would feature in the Murciélago - yet still keeping much of the character of the earlier cars – a real sweet spot.

A truly spectacular thing, and unarguably worthy of its place amongst the high echelons of supercars.” nbsp; “Hidden away in a private Hong Kong-based Collection of extremely special cars, this rare and quite possibly unrepeatable VT SE is now ‘back in the world’, freshly serviced and inspected by Lamborghini. With a minuscule-low mileage and in as-new condition, this example trumps even that of the one VT SE that is housed in Lamborghini’s own collection, what an opportunity of any buyer.”

Striking in its design, specification and colour combination, this Diablo VT 6.0 SE Coupé is absolutely what a supercar should be and represents a unique position in the Lamborghini timeline. Retaining some of the dramatic design language that harked back to the Countach, whilst utilising the glorious old-guard V12 (albeit evolved/updated), but with the subtle reassurance of Audi’s yet-to-be dominant influence on improving reliability, electronics and usability and before there was a fundamental (but maybe not better) change in the model’s aesthetics. The Diablo VT 6.0 SE Coupé 4WD supercar is powered by the 6-litre V12 and features an aluminium-alloy block, aluminium alloy/magnesium heads, chain driven DOHC per bank, intake variable valve timing and a magnesium intake manifold resulting in 550bhp @ 7,100rpm and 422ft/lb @ 5,500rpm.

This fabulous power unit sits in a high-strength, tubular spaceframe with carbon fibre components, clothed in aluminium alloy, carbon fibre and fibreglass-reinforced bodywork and sits on lightweight magnesium alloy wheels. Comparatively light at 1,675kg (not much more than the svelte Gallardo coupé), the SE offered 0-62mph in 3.95 seconds on its way to 205mph. One of the most seriously underrated Ferraris of their analogue era. UK-supplied, one of 38 ABS models, Classiche Certified, immaculate condition and an exemplary history file. More about this car: https://www.iconicauctioneers.com/2001-lamborghini-diablo-vt-6-0-se-coup-rec13678-1-silverston-0824?pn=1amp;el=23314amp;pp=100

1994 Ferrari 512 TR ABS - One of 38 - Classiche Certified. Estimated: £150,000 - £180,000

This 512 is simply exceptional and drives as impressively as one would imagine with its sonorous V12. With the ever-increasing electronic complexity of modern supercars and the concern that the right parts may no longer be available in the future, there is a growing focus on analogue cars, with three pedals and minimal electronic interference and this 1990s Ferrari, with proper maintenance, should go on forever.

Harry Fox-Edwards, Car Specialist who sourced the car for Iconic Auctioneers, says: “The 512 TR is arguably the most criminally underrated supercar, a perfected Testarossa if you will. It has every box ticked, with a flat-12 howl behind you, ferocious performance, a gated manual gearbox, and the infamous wedge-shape styling of the 80s and 90s. This example is extraordinary with its Classiche Certification and an exemplary history file including every bill and invoice dating right back to the original, hand-written order form for the car. It is everything one would want and expect from a Ferrari, whether you’ve been fortunate enough to drive one or not (yet)!”

Launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 1991, with deliveries to customers commencing in 1992, the 512 TR was effectively a re-engineered Testarossa, although naturally all at Ferrari were keen that it was regarded as a new model. The model title witnessed a return to the old naming tradition using characters, with the figure ‘5’ referring to the cubic capacity of the engine in litres and the ‘12’ to the number of cylinders, the ‘TR’ was simply an abbreviation of Testarossa (Testa Rossa) as a nod to its origins. Externally, the main visual differences were the nose and tail treatment, the louvre design on the engine lid and the design of the road wheels and internally there were changes to the seats, steering wheel design and trim details. Mechanically there were numerous changes to the engine and gearbox, boosting power and providing a more satisfying and more user-friendly gearbox. The engine and transmission assembly location in the chassis had been dropped by 30mm, lowering the centre of gravity, and improving further the Testarossa’s remarkable roadholding.

The net result of these changes was a more encouraging car to drive with a reduction in weight of 50kg and a jump in the claimed power output of 38bhp to 428bhp @ 6,750rpm for European models. The increased power provided improved acceleration with 0-60mph down from 5.2 seconds to 4.8 seconds, although the top speed was still in line with that of its predecessor. More about this car:
