?? Three Steps, 15 Minutes: Find the Business Issue That’s Holding You Back

Ever wonder why a business process isn’t working as expected, or why things seem to be getting worse instead of improving? Whether it’s customer satisfaction slipping, employee engagement declining, or revenue not growing, there’s a simple 3-step check that can help pinpoint the root cause—and it only takes 15 minutes. ??

Here’s how you can quickly identify where the issue lies using the 3 P’s: Process, People, Product (or Service).

Step 1: ?? Review the Process

Sit down with the person responsible for the process. Are they following it? If not, why?

Step 2: ?? Evaluate the Person

Is the person trained, equipped, and empowered to follow the process? Misalignment here can often be the cause.

Step 3: ?? Analyze the Product or Service

Does the product meet the customer’s requirements? Are competitors offering something better? Is price the issue, or is there something else driving customer choices?

It’s that simple. ??

Many companies, especially when they start to scale, don’t document processes. That’s fine for a small team, but as you grow, repeatability and continuous improvement become critical. With these three steps, you’ll have a reliable method to troubleshoot when things go wrong. ??

Next up: What if you don’t have your processes documented? I’ll address that in my next post. ??

Bonus Tip: ?? Here’s a list of key performance indicators (KPIs) you can monitor to identify potential business challenges before they escalate. These include:

? Customer KPIs: Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Net Promoter Score (NPS), Churn Rate, and more.

? Employee KPIs: Turnover, Employee Engagement Scores, Retention Length.

? Revenue KPIs: Revenue Growth Rate, Sales Cycle Length, Pipeline Value.

? Financial KPIs: Cash Flow Forecast Accuracy, Burn Rate, Gross Profit Margin.

Make sure to keep an eye on these ??, and you’ll have a clearer picture of where your business might be heading off course.

?? Question for you: What’s the first business challenge you’ll use this quick check for?
