Three Specific Notes on Why AI-Written Music won’t Work in Marketing.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) APPS are doing it all. Including writing jingles and full songs. And most of it sucks. Here’s 3 reasons why.

1.??? Lack of Emotional Nuance and Brand Voice: AI can generate catchy phrases, but it fails to capture a unique emotional tone, voice and the nuances necessary to align with a brand’s identity. Marketing jingles rely on an understanding of a brand’s core offering, the audience’s interest and cultural context.? Areas where human creativity and intuition still far outpace AI.

2.??? Creativity and Originality Limitations: While AI can remix existing ideas and patterns, it lacks the true creativity and original thinking that only human minds, emotion and experiences can produce and deliver. Jingles require originality to stand out and resonate with the public. ?My experience with AI music thus far is… AI recycles a trope and fails to generate the unexpected spark that makes a jingle or song memorable and impactful.

3.??? Generic Results: AI is trained on vast amounts of data, and as a result, the musical output sounds formulaic or overused. A jingle needs to feel fresh and distinctive, but AI may produce results that blend too easily with others, diluting the impact. This will undermine a brand’s attempt to create a memorable, unique campaign.

I’m a 30-year professional marketer. I’m a 5-year musician studying music theory, hosting a radio show dedicate to music and a local playing musician. I launched a second company called Music Xchange. We deliver a better alternative to the crunchy and forgettable "genericism" of AI music.

I love me some AI, but the human brain and talents are still the Beatles of creating music.
