Three South African life leaders at gala Range Rover reveal
Land Rover has revealed the New Range Rover to a group of South African media, customers, dealers and friends of the brand at a gala event held at Jaguar Land Rover Experience in Lonehill, Johannesburg.?
The fifth-generation Range Rover, which will officially be launched in South Africa midway through 2022, is?an all-new version of a vehicle which has led by example, combining serene comfort and composure with all conquering capability for more than 50 years.?
From princes to politicians, rock gods to rock climbers, footballers to farmers, the Range Rover has always appealed to a diverse group. It is the vehicle of choice for today’s life leaders. Though the new Range Rover was the star of the show, the event included a trio of leaders in their respective fields who each added unique elements to the occasion.?
Award-winning chef Bertus Basson prepared a series of five dishes - one for each Range Rover generation - while brand ambassador and well-known businesswoman Carol Bouwer delighted guests with a new fragrance from her perfume brand CBNL called?‘Just Mine’. Finally, renowned South African tailor Grant van den Berg from Frank Bespoke offered examples of male and female suits to demonstrate the link between bespoke attire and Range Rover SV models which can be custom ordered to exacting preferences.??

Bertus Basson
Famed chef Bertus Basson has a food philosophy rooted in traditional South African culture but with a modern twist. For the reveal, Basson was tasked with creating five canapes and drinks pairings dedicated to the period in time when each generation of Range Rover was sold.?
From smoked salmon éclair canapes inspired by the 1970s, to a 1980s influenced springbok loin served with pickled Dune Spinach and Bo-Kaap curry pickle and cauliflower spoom, guests’ palates were treated to delicious period-correct dishes. Dessert was, of course, reserved for the new Range Rover’s arrival in 2022 and featured a golden Eike apple filled with cremora tart and presented in a colour reminiscent of the Batumi Gold paint option on the new vehicle.
Paired beverages included a Ginger Ba(r)ker cocktail made with Barker & Quin Tonic, to reference the drummer Ginger Baker of?Cream?band fame in the 1970s, who took the first ever Range Rover on a tough expedition through the Sahara to build Africa’s first 16-track recording studio in Nigeria. Later, guests enjoyed a Midnight Kiss again made with Barker & Quin but mixed with vodka and curaco, and topped with freeze dried blueberries.?
Bertus Basson is a genuine Land Rover fan and currently owns a Defender and a previous generation Range Rover.

Carol Lindiwe Bouwer
Inspiring South African entrepreneur Carol Bouwer and her business partner Ntsoaki Ledimo recently launched their perfume brand CBNL after developing their signature aromatics during lockdown. The female fragrance ‘Just Mine’ and male fragrance ‘Fidelity’ were demonstrated to guests at the Range Rover reveal event, and shared as gifts for those in attendance.
Just Mine is named to play on the pair’s own personal dance with the Jasmine flower, but also as a reminder to every woman to take ownership of a shared sisterhood that emphasises a bond forged through the pandemic. Fidelity greets with a top note of Damascus Rose surrounded by Cardamom and Saffron-embedded beautifully with the heart of Patchouli, Sandalwood and Jasmine. It’s divinely anchored by Vanilla, Amber and Labdanum to produce this season’s must have perfume for every discerning nose.
Aside from her roles as a businesswoman, speaker, women’s rights activist, television producer and art enthusiast, Carol is also a proud Jaguar Land Rover brand ambassador.

Frank Bespoke
Grant van den Berg, the master tailor at Frank Bespoke, is truly one-of-a-kind. His love and passion for tailoring is almost tangible. Tailoring is not simply a profession for Grant, but is an extension of himself and creating each garment is one unique experience after the other.
The art of bespoke suit fitment and custom materials links perfectly to the process Range Rover SV customers enjoy when creating one-of-a-kind vehicles to personal tastes and preferences. The new Range Rover SV can be ordered in more than 1.6-million configurations thanks to a near endless selection of exclusive materials including lustrous plated metals, smooth ceramics, sustainably sourced woods and soft near-aniline leather, as well as sustainable non-leather Ultrafabrics.?
Grant displayed two bespoke garments at the event, in female and male designs, with fabrics, linings, stitching and buttons all chosen to match the new Range Rover on display for the reveal.
