Three simple and FREE tips to make your small business stand out from the crowd
Last week, I was trying to get hold of a steel fabrication company to do some work for me.
I tried 3 different numbers before I could get anyone to answer the phone, and I sent emails to all 3 companies.
Only one of them came back to me … and they got the job!
Does this sound familiar?
In my opinion, many small (and big) businesses are so bad at this, that I think that their biggest business expense BY FAR is customers who want to talk with them, but are put off by their poor communication.
It amazes me that these same companies pay marketing people to get them noticed and get clicks and calls.
Madness!
After all, customers have 3 REAL needs from you:
·??????? Trust
·??????? Easier Life
·??????? Attention
and if you violate these right at the beginning, they’re not going to want to do business with you (and they’ll tell their friends to avoid you too).
Here are 3 simple and FREE tips to sort this out, and make sure you wow anyone who contacts you … so you don’t have to put nearly as much time into marketing and promoting your business!
1.???? Have a great contact system.
2.???? Have a great reply system.
3.???? Have a great follow-up system.
In other words: the basics … done well!
A great contact system.
·??????? There are multiple systems around … and this isn’t the place to discuss them … but the key is to make sure that it’s EASY to contact you … AND the customer knows you’ve got the message and WHEN you’ll come back to them by. Make them relax because your system is so trustworthy and attentive!
A great response system.
·??????? Respond when, or slightly before, you promise you will. It’s that simple. If a customer has to contact you twice, you’ve already shown that you’re disorganised and not to be trusted. Customers want you to make their life easier. Being the most responsive in your market will make you stand head and shoulders above the rest!
A great follow-up system.
·??????? Tell the customer how you follow-up and when: then do it a tiny bit better. But this must be systemised!
If I had £1 for every time a business told me they’d do something, and then they don’t, I’d be rolling in it ... Most businesses and people are CRAP at this. If you want to be successful and have customers queueing up to do business with you, you need to get this right: you want to blow their socks off by how proactive, responsive and helpful you are!
So, there you are: NONE of this costs anything to do. There are MANY systems out there to help you, and, if you get it right, you’ll stand head and shoulders above your competition.
