Three Signs You Are in Need of a Business or Personal Coach

Asking for help is not usually a skill we are good at until we are in desperate need of it. We don’t want to ask for help; we want to assume we can do everything on our own. However, not only can that be isolating, but it can also be plain wrong. Asking for help is not a weakness or something to be ashamed of. Truthfully, it is a sign of courage and bravery. It means that you believe in yourself and are excited for your future. But there is a process to get there. Sometimes, we might not know we need a boost until it’s too late. So, here are three signs you are in need of a business or personal coach.?

  1. You Keep Breaking Promises to Yourself and Your Business

More often than not, breaking a promise has more to do with the strategic planning behind it rather than any weakness of execution. However, breaking promises is still a bad habit to get yourself in. If you are promising yourself that you will go back to college, apply for those internships, hire a salesperson, or start conducting quarterly meetings, and none of those things have actually happened, it is not for lack of trying but a lack of planning. Goals are only achievable when you set them appropriately.?

The goals (promises) you set out for yourself should be measurable, realistic, and time-bound. You should be able to see your progress and track where you started and where you are going. Breaking your own promises can be discouraging for yourself and those around you, so it might be time to seek out someone who can help you strategize a plan to make those promises happen.?

  1. You Are Looking for Growth But Can’t Find Step One

Whether you want to grow personally or scale your business (or both), the idea of becoming more can be an exciting one but a foggy one if you don’t know where to start. You’ve got the first part down — acknowledging the end game. You know where you want to be. That is great! But taking that first step is challenging when you don’t know where it is.?

A coach can help you visualize your goals, organize your thoughts, and strategize your first step accordingly. Growing personally or scaling a business can be tricky when you do it alone, and it takes accountability and motivation to follow through on each step. A coach can be your accountability partner and help you move in the right direction with purpose.?

  1. You’ve Plateaued, and You Don’t Know What Happened

In life and business, it is easy to hit the ground running and make immense progress in the first year or two of your growth. It can feel non-stop and exhilarating. However, as time passes, your progress, development, business, and motivation might feel as if they have plateaued and you are stuck. Things might feel a lot harder, you could be dealing with issues you didn’t expect, your motivation could suffer, or you might feel like an imposter in your own shoes. Don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong, this is all very normal.?

This lull is very common, and many people experience it. However, going through it alone can be challenging. It can be extremely beneficial to find a coach who can help you visualize what you are going through, create a strategy moving forward, and be there for you when things get difficult or seem to plateau again. An outside perspective can be just what you need to get yourself moving again and help you break through that plateau.?

We will all have our own reasons for seeking a personal or business coach, and no matter what they are, the end goal is the same—to be better, more self-motivated, and stronger than before.
