Three Rules of an Authentic Trappist - La Trappe x Tynt Meadow x Zundert Collaboration Release

We're honoured to be the UK's exclusive route to market for the momentous collaboration between three Trappist breweries: Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven - La Trappe Trappist Tynt Meadow and Zundert Trappist

These monasteries have come together to pay homage to the three tenets of authentic trappist products:

  • All products must be made within the immediate surroundings of the abbey
  • Production must be carried out under the supervision of the monks or nuns
  • Profits should be intended for the needs of the monastic community, for purposes of solidarity within the Trappist order, or for development projects and charitable works

This Special Dubbel was brewed at La Trappe and the profits from the project will be used to plant 14,000 trees through the Trees for All initiative.

As part of launching this momentous beer, we've a wide range of stock available from each of the three breweries encompassing 5 different kegs, and 9 different bottles all available to order online now. Additionally, we have glassware available from Tynt Meadow and La Trappe, that can be requested in the notes section when ordering online.

LA TRAPPE

The monks of Our Lady of Koningshoeven have been brewing since 1884, having fled France after a tightening of the Tax regime that made Abbey life difficult. The Abbey is located in the Landscape Park Moerenburg-Koningshoeven, a truly serene corner of Dutch Brabant.

TYNT MEADOW

Almost three hundred years after Henry VIII's Dissolution abolished all monasteries in England, a parcel of land in Leicestershire was donated to the Church and an Abbey was constructed allowing the Cistercian monks of Mount St Bernard to farm the land in devotion and peace.

With small scale farming coming under enormous financial pressure, the monks decided to diversify into brewing, and in 2018 built a brewery and release Tynt Meadow, the first ever British Trappist Ale.

ZUNDERT

A Cistercian community has existed at the De Kievit farm in the Netherlands since 1900. In 2009 the Brotherhood decided to pursue brewing as an additional revenue stream, but strictly on a small scale as the monks wanted to 'brew to live, not live to brew'.

For the first 10 years they exclusively produced Zundert 8, before adding the Quadrupel 10 in 2018.
