Three Questions Series: #7

Three Questions Series: #7

With Prasad Pandit, Senior Human Resources Manager at Clarion Technologies.

?? What's one thing you're most excited about around the future of work and learning?

Prasad: Given the pace at which technology has advanced, I believe learning will be more self-paced than ever and the majority of people will resort to mobile-learning. Although we have mobile learning available in this day and age, its usage is still limited and hasn't reached the masses. I feel children and adults will learn at their own pace using devices at their convenience and not per the availability of the trainer.

From a work perspective, I feel employees will be more autonomous and may even dictate their terms of employment to the extent it relates to time and availability. For some industries, office culture may vanish as employees will only work remotely without ever needing to be physically present at a site to get work done.

??What's your approach to your own learning/self-development?

Prasad: Being an HR professional for over a decade, I believe what works for me is experiential learning.  I read about people's experiences and learning and see how I could apply it to my world. Of course, it will need some tweaking, but at the end of the day one figures it out anyway.

I have subscribed to monthly journals, newsletters and magazines that help keep me up to date with my industry.

On a day-to-day basis, I also learn from Madhura Lanjekar (our VP, Human Resources). She is someone who very subtly coaches and mentors me on many areas around work.

?? What's your current favorite learning-related resource, writer/speaker, anecdote or quote?

Prasad: I am a big fan of Dave Ulrich and Ken Blanchard. I'm a regular at Dave's Webinars and read all his material. Ken Blanchard is a legend and needs no introduction.
