??First things first

I'm late, I know.

I was on holidays when 86% of my Linkedin feed became all about Chatgpt. And as soon as I heard about it, some weeks ago in December, I tested it out. Have you?

Really, it's crazy. And it's a beta version, with many limitations, imagine in 2-3 years what's going to be! Let's see.

For HR and recruitment, it could have many applications, like: creating Job Descriptions, Asking ChatGPT about roles and its tasks, writing outreach emails to candidates, assessing candidates and getting interview questions, creating inclusive job descriptions, getting salary benchmarking data... and what else? It's really a game-changer, isn't it?

Watch me asking for a job description:

Something interesting as well is that in January, California joined Colorado, New York, Washington, and other states requiring the disclosure of compensation ranges on job descriptions. Legally, it's the law.

Here in Europe, there was a proposal to make it law in 2021, but it seems we are a bit, or a lot far. “Within the European Union, less than 2 of every 10 vacancy texts would list the salary.” Adzuna.

Have a look in the ranking of salary transparency, there's no European country scoring above 20%!

Would you buy in a supermarket without prices displayed? Me neither.

Let's be transparent guys!

See you soon, those who are reading this under the summer, enjoy! Here it's cold, so cold!

0. Could?you?share a short bio? (just a small paragraph about?you!)

Hi All, I’m?Karyna?(Карина) from Ukraine, I live in Amsterdam, and work for Miro (YES! The online collaborative whiteboard platform that enables distributed teams to work effectively together!)

Currently, I'm helping to grow Miro Marketing team in EMEA. Our team is the most collaborative, diverse, and friendly environment I ever worked with.

I have 9 years of experience working for companies of different sizes in different phases of their development and in different industries as?well.?

Through these years I had?a?chance to recruit people in various countries like: The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Ukraine, Austria, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines, Australia, US, UK, and Brazil.

1.?Karyna, Miro has a great product, is quite well funded and it seems an amazing place to work. What tips could you give to people who want to work at Miro, about how the selection process works, what is valued, and maybe some "don'ts" during the interviews?

Yes indeed, Miro is a great product and people love it! We constantly receive positive feedback from our users and most of them are very eager to become a part of Miro team. Therefore we receive tons of applications for all of our roles and we have luxury to choose top talents out there.?I would give several pieces of advice for our valuable applicants:

1) Be very specific in your CV, adjust it specifically for the role that you are applying for, and make sure that expected skills and experience are very visible in your resume.

2) Do not apply for all roles at once choose 1-2 or 3 max that are THE most suitable for your experience and career plans. Otherwise, we don’t really understand what you are willing to do next, and unfortunately "...I just want to work for Miro at any suitable role..." will not be too helpful.?

3) Come prepared - we as any other company I appreciate it when people are coming prepared for the call with recruiter or HM. Please learn in advance about our values and the role itself, try to find examples from your previous experience that would match to the role.?

And the final - ask questions! Always! Ask more about the role in particular, about requirements and specific team structure, and keep close contact with Miro recruiters - we are eager to help you and guide you!??

2.?On the other hand, what are the challenges of working in recruitment at a unicorn, growing 300% YOY, with so many open roles, in multiple locations? Is a location more challenging than the others?

Oh yeah, in the last couple of years we really experienced a hyper-growth period at Miro, but lately, with all the things happening in the world (recession and etc.) we are moving into normal growth.

Likely we have local recruitment teams in every location so we can utilize their expertise and best practices. As always Japan and DACH regions are very specific niche markets.?

3. You seem to be an expert when it comes to the recruitment tech stack. What are the "not so well known" tools that help you the most to make recruitment easier??

I’m far from calling myself an expert in tech stack :) , as there are so many awesome tools coming up to the market all the time. Though,?indeed at the recruitment agency where I worked before Miro, I had pretty extensive experience working with a number of tech tools that helped us automate some routine tasks. There is a combination of 3 tools that I loved a lot:

1) "Dux soup" - Automated LinkedIn

lead generation (very good for sending connection proposals in batches to the list of previously sourced candidates)

2) "SalesQL" to actually source email addresses for your LinkedIn potential candidates

3) "Trinsly" is a communications platform that enables recruiters to send automated personalized emails for outreach at scale (I used it a lot for automated semi-personalized email outreach campaigns).

Worth mentioning that here at Miro I don’t use any of those tools as we have different more personalized relationships building approach with our talents.?
