A common question new business owner will ask is What does it take to be successful?
It’s a great question and a very fair one at that, there is however, no one specific answer as many things need to be taken into consideration including experience, industry, product or service and points of difference.
In saying that, the principles of building an extremely successful business do not need to be overthought or unnecessarily complex.
Turning your attention to the right aspects and creating a supportive process and structure for them should see success follow.
My Tip – Let the three P’s of business success be your guiding light.
The first P… is People.
No matter what the size of a company or its industry, people are the real assets. With people you get intellect, experience, knowledge, character and integrity. A group of skills that are collective known as “The Human Touch.” People are a vital component of a successful business and should be viewed as such. There is no greater asset to a business owner than people.
The Second P… is Products (and services)
Your product or service is the reason you are in business. But does your product or service offer a compelling enough reason to make your customers and potential customers want to buy?
Does your product or service off a solution? Does it fill a requirement? Will it make a difference?
If you can find a way of creating something that customers will see offers them something that will make a difference to their lives, or creates a solution to a need, then success will follow. Be sure to put some thought into what you choose to be your product or service.
The Third P… is Profit
If you aren’t making a profit, then what’s the point? At the end of the day profit is the most important signal of your success. Profit allows you to invest further into your business growth which will enable further success.
If you get the first two P’s right, the third will follow.
