Three practical examples of applied AI

70% of your work will be automated by AI until 2030. This is within the next 7 years!

McKinsey, in an article published September 19th 2023 titled "The organization of the future: Enabled by gen AI, driven by people " states:

"Anyone can use gen AI, with little or no formal training or technical know-how. It is being embedded in everyday tools, like email, word processing applications, and meeting software, which means the technology is already positioned to radically transform how people work. [Author's note: And I am seeing embedded AI popping into all my applications: It's already part of LinkedIn when you write a post! ]

And McKinsey research shows that gen AI could enable automation of up to 70 percent of business activities, across almost all occupations, between now and 2030, adding trillions of dollars in value to the global economy.

Meanwhile, technologists keep reminding us that gen AI is only in its nascent stages of development and usage. This smart technology is only going to get more intelligent—and those who don’t learn to work with it, starting now, will be left behind."

In the last edition, I announced that I started my journey to becoming an AI-fit Sales Manager.

Recently, I have started using several AI-powered applications that promise important productivity and quality gains.

Today I will share three different Generative AI applications I tried out with you so you get an idea of where we are heading.

According to McKinsey's article, I also recommend doing the same to avoid being left behind.

1. Younet.ai - Creating your clone - Your "Intelligent" Virtual Assistant

Younet.ai is an online AI service offering the straight forward and very easy creation of a personalized virtual assistant.

Here is a screenshot of and the link to the simple interface to ask the virtual assistant anything you want to know about Teradata and it's products and services offerings.

Here is how to train this virtual assistant with personalized information.

Younet uses GTP 3.5 where GPT stands for OpenAI 's Generative Pre-trained Transformer. The name reflects its capability to generate text and its transformer architecture, which enables parallel processing for efficient language tasks.

For information upload of training data, Younet allows two free options and two options you have to pay for.

Free "brain training" options are text based feeds (Text and Q&A) while email scanning and file uploads are only available for the paid versions.

You may want to try this out and train your assistant with your own personalized information.

2. Nightcafe - A text to image generation application

The images above have been generated using text descriptions I provided using the SDXL 1 model with Nightcafe . You can chose among a variety of generative image transformers.

There are many others of text to image generators and one of the first ones was Midjourney .

The transformation with these models is text to image. You chose the transformer model, write a text description of the image you want to create and then you select a style, adjust a few settings and hit "Create".

Step 3: Use the "Advanced prompting" option and select a style

By selecting a style, your description will be extended. In my case chosing "Striking" as a style, the following is added to my prompt:

"Intricate details, HDR, beautifully shot, hyperrealistic, sharp focus, 64 megapixels, perfect composition, high contrast, cinematic, atmospheric, moody."

Step 4: Settings and output definition

Here you can chose parameters for the generation of the output.

In my example I will create 4 images with "Short" runtime and a ratio of 4:3.

Step 5: Create

And here is the result after 10 seconds of rendering.

Here you have a second creation using the exact same prompt changing two settings:

1. Style: "Vibrant"
2. Runtime: "Medium"

One thing: By default Nightcafé activates in "Settings" "Seed - Use a new random seed for each creation." That's the reason why all four images are totally different.

I switched "Seed" off and created a new image. Here is the result. There are more similarities across the 4 images while they are still different.

I hope you enjoy experimenting with Nightcafe. The great thing is that they offer 5 credits for every day you use Nightcafe. I am really enjoying this application.

This is great to create your own impacting and high resolution images for your presentations and you own the Intelectual Property!

3. Text to Audio: ElevenLabs.io

In order for you being able to listen to the audio I created, I had to create a video and upload it on Vimeo.

This is the text I wrote for you which was then transformed into audio using GPT-4 by ElevenLabs .

What astonished me most was how realistic the voice was and how great the pauses were employed creating the right tone and pace to bring the audio very well across. It's just incredibly high quality! And: You can adjust speed and a few more parameters.

As I am on my journey to become an AI-fit Sales Manager. First I have to learn about AI. A great way to learn about AI is using all kinds of applications. Today I want to share with you a very nice application that converts text into speech. Recently on Blinkist , my favorite book summary service, I came across that functionality. When the book summary finished I was informed: "We are using AI generated speech and we would love you to rate the quality of service and your feedback."

I got curious, so I asked Bing about the most powerful and transformative applications based on GPT-4. Eleven Labs is a company that offers text to speech an speech to speech transformation.

This here is an example. The narrative is done by a voice I selected from the menu Eleven Labs provides in its free version.

I just took "Daniel - British - Deep - News Presenter" and the "Eleven Multilingual v1" model ElevenLabs suggests for Daniel as best fit.
