Three Months In: Gratitude, Growth, and Grit to Close Out the Year

As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on what has been an extraordinary three-month journey as a founder. Starting this business was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating, but as I sit down to write this, one overwhelming feeling rises above all else: gratitude.

To my clients, thank you. Entrusting me with your cases, some of which have required live trial appearances in open court, is a responsibility I do not take lightly. Standing before judges and juries this year—on the East Coast for one trial and the West Coast for another—has been a humbling reminder of the stakes and importance of the work we do in digital forensics. I carry the lessons from each case with me, and I am proud to have contributed to your pursuit of justice.

This quarter has shown me how much relationships and reputation matter. I’ve been fortunate to see a consistent flow of work, much of it from those who have known and trusted me for years. Word-of-mouth referrals and longstanding professional connections have carried me through this early stage of building Right Forensics. It’s proof that investing in people and doing work with integrity over the years creates a foundation for success.

That said, every new business faces challenges, and ours has been no exception. Cash flow management is by far the biggest hurdle. Expenses and growth opportunities don’t wait, but invoices take time to process and payments take time to arrive. Learning how to bridge that gap—how to keep the wheels turning while ensuring the company stays financially sound—has been a crash course in entrepreneurial grit.

At this stage, I’m discovering the importance of establishing good habits early. Internal processes, like sticking to timesheet deadlines and ensuring accuracy in billing, have become non-negotiables. Following up with clients for outstanding invoices is no longer an awkward chore; it’s a crucial lifeline for the business. Discipline in these areas is the scaffolding that supports sustainable growth.

As we head into 2025, I’m optimistic about what’s to come. The past three months have proven that this company is not just an idea; it’s a reality with a growing presence in the industry. I look forward to continuing to serve my clients, to refining our processes, and to meeting the challenges of the new year head-on.

To everyone who has supported me on this journey—clients, colleagues, friends, and family—thank you. Your trust, encouragement, and belief in this venture have been my greatest motivators. Here’s to closing out the year strong and stepping boldly into the next chapter.

Happy New Year!

Jerry Bui I've analyzed this photo extensively using sophisticated forensic techniques and believe it may be AI generated. Not sure, just a hunch. #imaforensicsgenius
