Three Keys to Successful Fitness Transformations

I used to think it was strange that many of my most professionally successful clients also crushed it in the gym.

Was it because they had more money for supplements or to see me more often? Sure, these things help.

But as my business grew, I worked with people from all types of backgrounds.

Many aren’t “high rollers” financially, but those who succeed seemed to find success in the gym were also succesful in other areas of their life as well.

It became clear being “well off” isn’t the determining factor for building a strong, lean, and healthy body.

To successfully transform your body you need….

Practical long-term goals. Goals not set in what’s physically possible (or without a proper timeline) are a fast class ticket to feeling like nothing is working and program hopping. Many people become “lost warriors” or fitness journeymen in part because they’re hoping to make GAINS as fast as they did when they first started exercising.

In reality, the rate at which you make progress will slow down over time. That’s why it’s essential to have realistic goals and a step-by-step plan to stay the course if you want to get (and stay) in the best shape of your life.

To delay gratification. There will be times when you want to kick back and crush a pizza, go out for cocktails, and say “screw it” to your diet.

You’ll feel external pressure and the temptation to skip workouts or cheat on your diet for something more appealing in the moment. This is simply human nature. But to succeed long term, you need to develop the skill to push off what you want now for what matters most long-term.

A plan designed to improve your life, not consume it. After all, what good is the plan for an elite bodybuilder who trains 12 hours per week, doesn’t have a full-time job, and focuses all their attention on their physique?

That’s not you, and your training must factor in your lifestyle and schedule.

Without addressing these three components, your plan is likely to leave you spinning your wheels, as I did for years.

Worse, acting incongruently with your big goals eroded your confidence and willpower, which undermines every other area of your life.

You deserve better and fortunately, there’s a better path for you.

It starts with committing to long term goals and delaying the pull of instant gratification, even if stress is at an all-time high.

Then, it comes down to taking action (even when you’re not motivated) because you have a practical plan in place.

The key is to understand that fitness improves your life well beyond what you see in the mirror.

Sure, you’ll improve your physique and health with a solid plan. But the real beauty comes from seeing how making your health and physique a priority will elevate your mood, You’ll gain the confidence, discipline, and focus to master other areas of your life along the way.
