Three key decisions that can save your loved ones from this Pandemic

There have been painful events at several families all over country during Wave-2 of the Covid-19 Pandemic, including mine. After an introspection of events as they unfolded, I feel there are three important decisions that can save our loved ones from this Pandemic.

1. Prevent smartly: Be smart to prevent any infection by following all well known precautions, we already know them. Be alert to avoid unnecessary contacts. Always, focus on possible contact and entry points for infection. If you think your loved ones may fail to take all these precautions smartly, prevent them getting in contact with any potential sources.
2. Be cautious & Get tested: Despite all these precautions, Covid-19 can find is entry mysteriously. When the first symptom is observed (mostly fever with body pains, diarrhea, cough, weakness etc.), get the Covid-19 test done immediately. Early detection will give us good time to take next steps. Do not hesitate to get it tested. This cautious step can potentially save one's life.
3. Act wisely: The first three to five days after Covid-19 infection are important. It determine the capability of a person to resist the progress of the infection. In case of home isolation, we need to keep checking the temperature and SpO2 of the person regularly. If SpO2 goes below 95/96, take him/her to hospital immediately. Also, if the fever is not coming in to control or any other discomfort, take him/her to hospital immediately. Depending on various aspects, which are not known, the progression of infection can be slow or rapid in first three to five days. Without taking any risk, it is better to admit in hospital if the person is older or if you feel he/she is less immune. Many people recover with home kit and good diet. However, it gets complicated for few people, for the reasons not well understood. Keep close watch on the person and act wisely to save your loved ones.

Despite these steps and several other measures, Covid-19 Wave-2 has been extremely unpredictable and brutally shattered several families and left them with misery. May God give all these families strength to stay strong and recover.
